William Daniels, the 98-year-old actor best known for Boy Meets World and St. Elsewhere, is speaking out against Donald Trump’s controversial demolition of the East Wing of the White House.
Taking to Instagram, Daniels shared a photo from the musical film 1776, in which he played President John Adams, and expressed his outrage over the historic loss. “We performed 1776 in the beautiful East Room when Nixon was in the White House. He was very gracious, even though none of us had voted for him. The current president has ripped a piece of history from our lives and we mustn’t take this lightly,” Daniels wrote.
The East Wing, built in 1902 and expanded in 1942 under Franklin D. Roosevelt, was torn down last week to make way for Trump’s 90,000-square-foot ballroom, slated for completion in 2029. The demolition also affected the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden, prompting her grandson Jack Schlossberg to publicly criticize the move on Instagram.
Daniels’ post highlights the growing backlash over the president’s plan, with many calling it a disregard for historical preservation and a “loss for the nation’s heritage.”

Just another actor who has lived his life in a bubble. This guy doesn’t have an ounce of experience in the world the rest of us live in. Being concerned about the tear down of some small office spaces is pathetic. The world was completely falling apart under Biden and the socialist Democrats and Trump at 80 is working overtime to save the country and much of the world. If I could speak to all Democrats I would tell them to study the history of communism/socialism/fascism along with their own party and discover history doesn’t lie. They are all the same and result in the same end. Poverty, lawlessness, war and the destruction of western civilization. Only New York, a dying city would consider electing a Muslim Jew Hating Islamist Communist as their next Mayor.
