Americans are Turning on Trump According to ‘Devastating’ New Poll

Donald Trump is bragging about fixing the economy — but Americans aren’t buying it.

A new Harris poll for The Guardian has left the president red-faced, showing that voters across the country feel poorer, more stressed, and deeply unimpressed with his so-called “economic miracle.”

More than half of Americans — 53 percent — say they’re worried about the economy, a jump from last year. And it’s not hard to see why: 74 percent say their monthly costs have exploded by at least $100, with some paying nearly $750 more just to keep the lights on.

“Trump keeps saying prices are down, but my grocery bill says otherwise,” said Lisa Jennings, a teacher from Ohio. “Every week it’s like I’m spending Monopoly money.”

Inflation sits at 2.9 percent, technically lower than in January — but families aren’t feeling it. Trump recently boasted on Truth Social that “Prices are WAY DOWN in the USA!”

Economists, however, say the president is delusional. “Inflation may have slowed on paper,” said Dr. Mia Reynolds, an economist at Georgetown University, “but real people are still being crushed by high rents, credit card debt, and food prices. It’s smoke and mirrors.”

During his 2024 campaign, Trump promised to “end inflation and make America affordable again, starting on day one.” Instead, Americans are seeing higher bills, pricier imports, and a widening gap between the rich and everyone else.

Even some Republicans are fed up. Jorge Ramirez, a small-business owner from Florida, said, “I voted for Trump to help small businesses. But now I can’t afford supplies, and customers are spending less. It’s a mess.”

The poll shows inflation is the number-one worry for Republicans and the number-two concern for Democrats, right behind Trump’s trade tariffs — which have made everything from appliances to avocados more expensive.

For many, the shine of Trump’s second term has worn off. His speeches may be full of victory laps, but Americans are still fighting to afford the basics.

“Trump governs by slogan,” said Democratic strategist Rachel Abrams. “He’s obsessed with looking strong, not actually helping people survive.”

As prices climb and patience wears thin, voters seem to be sending a clear message: Trump’s version of ‘winning’ feels a lot like losing.
