ABC’s George Stephanopoulos didn’t let Vice President JD Vance off the hook during a tense interview on Sunday, abruptly ending the conversation after Vance refused to answer a direct question about a reported bribery scandal involving a top Trump administration figure.

The clash happened on This Week, when Stephanopoulos asked Vance about allegations that former “Border Czar” Tom Homan accepted a $50,000 bribe during an FBI sting operation in 2024. The FBI reportedly captured the exchange on audio, but so far, no official charges have been filed.

Rather than address the question head-on, Vance shifted gears and began blaming Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown, dismissing the bribery question as a “left-wing rabbit hole.”

Stephanopoulos didn’t let that slide.

“It’s not a weird left-wing rabbit hole. I didn’t insinuate anything,” he replied. “I asked you whether Tom Homan accepted $50,000, as was heard on an audiotape recorded by the FBI in September 2024. And you did not answer the question.”

With that, Stephanopoulos ended the interview.

Vance’s evasive response quickly drew criticism. MSNBC correspondent Ken Dilanian called the vice president’s performance “verbal jujitsu,” noting how he dodged a straightforward question about whether a Trump ally pocketed taxpayer money from undercover federal agents.

ABC’s social media channels later posted the exchange, sparking backlash and renewed scrutiny of the Trump administration’s ties to controversial figures like Homan, who was appointed to oversee border enforcement and immigration policy during Trump’s first term and returned to prominence after the 2024 election.

As the Biden team and congressional Democrats continue pushing for ethics reform and more transparency in government, moments like these are fueling concerns about corruption and accountability under the current administration — especially as key figures dodge questions that deserve real answers.

  1. This Leftist Media idiot must be removed from the from all forms of information and stop spreading misinformation and propaganda to support the Leftist Socialist Democrats!!

  2. Speaking as a Disney shareholder, George Stephanopoulos is not worthy listening to. He got his position handling the “bimbo” eruptions for the Clintons. Denigrating young women should not be a path for success. I assume that resume is good enough for ABC.

Also, I am the Primary Next of Kin of a fallen Marine Captain. I was honored to accept his flag when he and his fellow Marines were buried at Arlington. Stephanopoulus is insulting to Gold Star Families

  3. what else would you expect from tiny little georgie, in my opinion a really small excuse of a man, also a coward. he constantly hardballs conservatives and gives liberals a pass. truly a little man both in stature and ethics.example, katie porter gets skewered for such action, little georgie gets away with it.i don\’t support ms porter but what applies to her should also apply to the little man.abc should be ashamed of itself for allowing such bias. by the way i am a confirmed independent, i vote for who or what i believe is best for the country. with this kind of crap going on , i.am seriously considering leaning conservative.
