Democrats are ramping up efforts to impeach Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., blasting him for firing top health officials, slashing research budgets, and spreading conspiracy theories that have shaken trust in public health.

Kennedy, long known for his anti-vaccine rhetoric, has been one of President Donald Trump’s most controversial Cabinet picks since before his confirmation. In his first months in office, he’s only fueled more outrage by gutting vaccine programs, firing top experts, and making unverified claims that alarmed even some Republicans.

On Thursday, Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens of Michigan — now running for Senate — announced she was drafting articles of impeachment against Kennedy. “His contempt for science, the constant spreading of conspiracy theories, and his complete disregard for the thousands of research hours spent by America’s top doctors and experts is unprecedented, reckless, and dangerous,” Stevens said in a fiery statement.

She pointed to Kennedy’s cuts to pediatric cancer and vaccine research, as well as the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez after less than a month on the job. Monarez said she was dismissed for refusing to pre-approve recommendations from Kennedy’s new panel and fire career scientists, sparking a wave of resignations inside the CDC.

The fallout intensified Monday when Trump and Kennedy claimed Tylenol use during pregnancy could cause autism — without providing evidence. The statement sparked backlash from medical experts and even some of Trump’s allies, including Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. Ben Carson.

New polling shows Kennedy’s approval is tanking, with 54 percent of voters disapproving of his performance and only 33 percent approving. A majority of voters said they have little to no confidence in the medical information he cites.

While impeachment articles aren’t expected to advance in the Republican-controlled House, Democrats see the move as a preview of their priorities if they regain the majority in next year’s midterms.

  1. I dont care if Kennedy is a republican or a democrat. He IS incompetent and a supremely poor choice for this cabinet post- total ignoramous in terms of any medical knowledge. He need to be removed

  2. According to 600 scientists and doctors, the covid shots destroyed the immune system and the vaccinated died in much larger numbers than non-vaccinated. Read the 110 page book which has 239 references at the end. A Letter to liberals from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Censorship and COVID: An Attack on Science and American Ideals.
Strange that the COVID vaccine manufacturers requested that they not have to report side effects when normally side effects are to be reported immediately. Strange that countries that used ivermectin had the lowest death rates in the world.
