President Donald Trump’s second state visit to Britain veered into awkward spectacle Wednesday morning when he greeted the Princess of Wales not with diplomacy, but with a gush about her looks.

“You’re beautiful, so beautiful,” the 79-year-old president told Kate Middleton the moment he stepped off Marine One at Windsor Castle. The comment, caught on video and shared by the royal family’s official X account, immediately lit up headlines on both sides of the Atlantic.

Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania, is on the second day of his unprecedented return state visit to the United Kingdom. The itinerary so far has leaned heavy on pageantry: a solemn stop at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb, a horse-drawn parade, and photo-ops that look more like campaign reels than diplomacy.

Thursday’s schedule is more substantive. Trump is slated to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while Melania will attend cultural tours—tabloid reports mocked one event as “looking at dolls.”

The Trumps are staying in separate suites at Windsor Castle, a detail already fueling gossip abroad.

Kate, 43, has been cautiously returning to the public spotlight after announcing earlier this year that she is in remission following a secret cancer battle. Her recent choice to dye her hair blonde has been dissected relentlessly in the British press, with some commentators calling it “tacky” and others hailing it as a sign of strength.

Doctors generally advise against hair dye during chemotherapy, so the change has been seen by many as symbolic. “For her to reemerge like this is a message of resilience,” one London royal watcher told The Guardian. “She’s telling people she’s back.”

Trump’s comment, however, struck a very different tone. Rather than acknowledging her recovery or public service, he zeroed in on her looks.

It wasn’t the first time Trump has evaluated royals by appearance. Just last year he called Prince William a “good-looking guy” and mused that “some people look better in person.” His critics see the fixation as an extension of his decades in the beauty pageant world, where women were paraded for scores rather than respected for their roles.

“Donald Trump doesn’t know how to interact with women in power without reducing them to their appearance,” said Democratic strategist Maria Cardona. “It’s embarrassing for America.”

Despite the royal fanfare, Trump’s trip has been anything but smooth. Protesters in Windsor have gone to creative lengths to remind the world of Trump’s controversial ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

On Monday, activists projected a massive image of Trump with Epstein onto the walls of Windsor Castle. By Tuesday night, the same image appeared again, splashed across the historic stone. On Wednesday, a van bearing the photo circled the castle grounds.

One activist group, “Everyone Hates Elon,” issued a statement saying: “We refuse to let the world forget Trump’s dangerous friends and his history of degrading women.”

Trump’s allies insist the UK trip shows him on the world stage as a “leader of strength.” But the gaffe with Kate Middleton—and the unrelenting protests—underscore how polarizing his presence remains abroad.

For the Princess of Wales, her quiet endurance through Trump’s comments may have said more than words.

  1. Why do people talk trash use anonymous all the time? Be an adult and put your name. Your paid to trash talk so get out of mommies house basement away from your ice cream and lollipops and get a job and be a real person. Now back to this with what President Trump said. I love it when men say that to me. What is the problem besides President Trump said it? I don’t know any women who doesn’t like men saying these things to them. Maybe anonymous is a female and very comfortable with herself. Get over it and get a job. Difference between conservatives and far left is we actually work and have lives and they are paid by same people pushing chaos in our country. That’s a problem they have not conservatives. Called a life.

  2. President Trump has a personality that I and many others love. Regardless of how wealthy he is and in the position he holds, he treats everybody with kindness and respect. I think he could walk into a restaurant where any of us are sitting, and he would treat us like he would any of his cabinet or other celebrities. Show me a woman who doesn’t like to be told she’s beautiful. Kate is a beautiful woman and she appreciated the compliment, I am sure.!
You people watch him like a hawk every day looking for something to criticize him for, So leave him alone and let him continue to do the good job he is doing to save this country.!

  3. Maybe just Maybe the Left can understand they are done! Charlie Kirk’s assignation assured that!
Now it’s about real people like the 3 million people matching in London last week, not rioting, not shining ludicrous images at Windsor castle but fighting for normalcy.

Kate is fighting for her cancer and trying to keep her looks and Trump acknowledged that she looked good! I bet she appreciated it!

  4. How many cancer survivors have had PRESIDENT TRUMP told them they are beautiful when he was comparing her to Melania
