A Canadian man has been arrested after police caught him cruising down a busy road in a child-size pink Barbie Jeep while allegedly under the influence.
The bizarre incident happened around 9 a.m. on Sept. 5 in Prince George, British Columbia. Photos quickly went viral, showing 51-year-old Kasper Lincoln smiling in oversized reflective sunglasses as he slowly rolled down the street in the toy car, with baffled drivers swerving around him. Eventually, a police cruiser pulled up behind the mini Jeep before officers placed him in handcuffs.
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Lincoln was not only driving the toy car under the influence but also had a suspended license. “The risk the driver was creating to other motorists on the road who were forced to go around him, coupled with the risk to himself … was enough to warrant police attention,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.
Lincoln later laughed about the ordeal in an interview with CBC, admitting that he had borrowed his roommate’s child’s toy car because he “got lazy” and didn’t feel like walking to meet a friend for a Slurpee. “I never drove it before,” he said, adding, “I was using the hand signals and everything.”
Despite being hit with charges for prohibited driving and DUI, Lincoln claims he plans to fight the case, insisting he didn’t realize he was breaking the law. Still, he has no hard feelings toward the arresting officer. “He was really nice. He was filling out all of this paperwork, saying, ‘This is my first time!’”
Lincoln ended the interview with a tongue-in-cheek lesson: “Don’t drink and drive.”
