Joe Rogan is taking heat from two of comedy’s most outspoken voices — Marc Maron and Tim Heidecker — who say the podcaster helped fuel Donald Trump’s return to the White House, only to turn around and “change his tune” now that the consequences are playing out.

“Joe’s trying to walk it back, but he can’t unring that bell,” Maron said Monday on his long-running WTF podcast, which is set to end this fall after 16 years. “He helped give this guy a platform. That matters.”

Rogan’s popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, became a political lightning rod during the 2024 election. After months of playing coy about his leanings, Rogan hosted Trump just days before voters headed to the polls — and then publicly endorsed him, lending credibility to the now-president’s campaign in front of Rogan’s massive audience of more than 14 million listeners per episode.

At the time, Rogan called Trump “refreshing” and praised his “anti-woke” positions. But since Trump returned to power in January, Rogan has voiced frustration with several controversial policies, from mass deportations of non-violent immigrants to the administration’s chaotic release of files tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“Joe’s kind of changing his tune now,” Maron said. “But the thing is, he did what he did.”

Heidecker chimed in: “How convenient.”

Heidecker, known for his parodies of Rogan and other “bro-comedy” hosts, didn’t hold back. “There’s something annoying about his show that you can’t put your finger on,” he said. “We put our finger on it. It wasn’t even political. It’s just boring. You go in circles and never land anywhere.”

Maron agreed, taking aim at Rogan’s meandering conversations and misinformation-laden guests. “It’s hours of skirting around issues you don’t actually understand, with people who don’t understand them either,” he said.

But the two comedians argue Rogan’s impact goes far beyond bad content. Maron warned that Rogan and other so-called “anti-woke” comics like Tim Dillon and Andrew Schulz have helped normalize policies that are now eroding freedoms.

“The authoritarian administration and the fascist cultural apparatus, through the Christians, are making policy built on the back of this anti-woke thing,” Maron said. “All these comics thought they were just joking about pronouns and victimhood, but now there’s real-world consequences. People are losing their rights.”

The criticism comes as the Trump administration faces growing fallout from newly released Ghislaine Maxwell interview tapes and heightened backlash over its aggressive immigration crackdown. According to CNN, Trump officials are even considering having senior aides appear on Rogan’s show to manage the damage.

For Rogan, the heat is coming from all sides. While he continues to defend his “free speech” approach, his insistence that he and his circle “are not anti-woke” has fallen flat with critics who see his earlier rhetoric as instrumental in shaping Trump-era policies.

“You’re an adult and there are consequences for getting that involved,” Heidecker said. “You had him on the show, you endorsed him, you made that choice.”

Maron concluded with a warning: “You got your little rise to power, but now you’re on the hook.”

  4. Look up the definition of “opinion”………that’s all they are! I’m more interested in “results”!!

  5. Screw Moron and Heckler! You offered the same sit down with Kamala and she declined and we all know why! She would have imploded! She was so unqualified it would have been a bigger disaster than 4 years of Mr. Magoo! The right person won and Joe Rogan fans don’t want to see him walk back his support for Trump! You don’t have to agree with everything he does but 77 million Americans want you to stand up to critics and we’ll continue to support you!
