In the Trump-era House of Representatives, political discourse just hit a disturbing new low.
In what’s being called one of the most unhinged public meltdowns of the 2025 congressional term, Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), a close ally of President Trump, went on a bizarre social media rampage Tuesday night—sharing photos of a naked man in a ski mask and accusing his longtime Democratic rival, Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI), of being the man in question.
The grotesque stunt was launched on X (formerly Twitter), where Van Orden posted a New York Post story featuring a blurred image of a nude man in Slovakia, wearing only boots, a ski mask, and holding what appeared to be a sex toy duct-taped to a stick. Without evidence or context, Van Orden tagged the article and quipped:
“Looks like Mark Pocan is taking a little European VaCa after his long series of struggle sessions. Enjoy your time, Mark. Wear sunscreen.”
Pocan, who has sparred with Van Orden repeatedly over the past year, didn’t miss a beat.
“KKKlassy, Derrick, KKKlassy,” Pocan shot back—an apparent reference to Van Orden’s history of extremist associations and controversial behavior.
But Van Orden, a former Navy SEAL turned far-right provocateur, didn’t stop there. He responded with a series of incoherent posts, accusing Pocan of labeling him a white supremacist while doubling down with additional posts of the naked man. At one point, he photoshopped the image next to a picture of Donald Trump shouting from the White House rooftop, writing:
“Mark Pocan, wear sunscreen!”
Pocan fired back with a now-viral response:
“Are you drunk again?”
This isn’t the first time Pocan has raised concerns about Van Orden’s apparent erratic behavior. In July, Van Orden stormed onto the set of a Capitol Hill interview Pocan was doing with Spectrum News—after a late-night X exchange devolved into personal attacks. Eyewitnesses say Van Orden appeared disheveled and agitated.
“Maybe seek mental health counseling,” Van Orden told Pocan at the time.
Pocan’s reply? “Are you drinking right now?”
The feud between the two Wisconsin lawmakers has become increasingly surreal—and increasingly concerning for Democratic lawmakers and ethics watchdogs.
“We’re witnessing the breakdown of basic standards of decency and professionalism in Congress,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD). “Posting sexually explicit photos as part of a political attack? That’s not ‘owning the libs.’ That’s weaponized humiliation—and it’s disturbing.”
Adding insult to injury, Van Orden even dragged actress Sydney Sweeney into the drama, bizarrely referencing her American Eagle ad in another attack on Pocan, writing:
“Mark Pocan does not have good jeans.”
While House Republican leadership remains silent, many Democrats say this is part of a broader, disturbing trend in the post-Trump Republican Party—where chaos, cruelty, and culture-war memes have replaced policy.
“It’s not a ‘feud’ if one person is doing town halls and the other is posting nude men online,” Pocan posted Thursday morning. “I think the ‘gentleman’ from WI-3 has some unresolved issues he may want to get some help on.”
Neither Van Orden nor Pocan responded to requests for comment.
But one thing is clear: In Donald Trump’s America, congressional politics have never been weirder—or more dangerous.
