Epstein was Still a Member of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Long After Indictment

New records show Epstein remained a Mar-a-Lago member long after his indictment—raising serious questions about President Trump’s narrative

In the latest twist to Donald Trump’s long and troubling history with Jeffrey Epstein, newly surfaced Mar-a-Lago membership records appear to directly contradict the president’s claim that he banned the disgraced financier after learning he “stole” young female staff from his exclusive Florida club.

According to documentation reviewed by investigative reporters and detailed in the book The Grifter’s Club, Epstein remained an active member at Mar-a-Lago until October 2007—a full 15 months after his 2006 sex crimes indictment involving underage girls.

Trump, now serving his second term as president, has repeatedly insisted he cut ties with Epstein as soon as he learned of the alleged misconduct. “When I heard about it, I said: ‘Out of here!’” Trump told reporters just last week. But the timeline tells a different story.

The Mar-a-Lago membership log reveals Epstein’s account wasn’t terminated until well after his July 2006 arrest and widely publicized indictment on charges of soliciting sex from minors. The South Florida Sun Sentinel and Palm Beach Post had extensively covered the case during that period—yet Epstein’s access to the club wasn’t revoked until over a year later.

“It’s not like Trump didn’t know what was going on,” said a former Palm Beach police detective familiar with the investigation. “You couldn’t turn on the TV or open the paper without seeing Epstein’s face.”

Despite the media storm, Epstein was reportedly still receiving invites to Mar-a-Lago events while out on bail. He even told the New York Post in 2007 that he had “recently been invited” to a gathering at the club—directly contradicting reports that he had been banned.

Trump now says he distanced himself from Epstein because he “poached” Virginia Giuffre—then a 17-year-old spa employee at Mar-a-Lago—who would go on to become one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers.

“He stole her,” Trump said, referring to Epstein. “By the way, she had no complaints about us, none whatsoever.”

But court filings from 2009 tell a darker story. Giuffre’s attorney, Bradley Edwards, stated that Trump banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago because he sexually assaulted an underage girl on the property—a claim that has never been formally addressed by Trump or his team.

Giuffre, who tragically died earlier this year, had testified in a deposition against Epstein and his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell. She said she was recruited from the spa at Trump’s club and brought into Epstein’s orbit, ultimately becoming a “full-time masseuse” at just 17.

Trump’s relationship with Epstein dates back decades. The two were photographed and filmed together numerous times in the 1990s and early 2000s—often at Mar-a-Lago. In one now-infamous 1992 video, Trump and Epstein can be seen laughing and pointing at women during a party at the club.

Epstein once referred to Trump as a “terrific guy,” saying in a 2002 profile that the future president “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Now, as Trump tries to rewrite history ahead of the 2026 midterms, Democrats and survivors’ advocates say the president’s ties to Epstein deserve renewed scrutiny.

“This wasn’t just a passing acquaintance. This was a long-term friendship with a serial predator—and the president is still lying about when he cut him off,” said Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA). “The American people deserve to know what Trump knew and when.”

The White House and Mar-a-Lago have declined repeated requests to clarify whether Trump was aware of Epstein’s criminal charges during the 15 months between his arrest and removal from the club’s member rolls. They have also not confirmed or denied whether Epstein attended Mar-a-Lago while out on bail.

Trump, who famously consumes hours of Fox News and the New York Post—both of which heavily covered Epstein’s arrest in 2006—is unlikely to have missed the scandal at the time.

“There’s no plausible deniability here,” said journalist Nicholas Nehamas, one of the authors of The Grifter’s Club. “Trump’s club was Epstein’s hunting ground. And Trump knew it.”

As the walls close in on other Epstein associates—including a former cabinet member implicated in the 2008 plea deal that let Epstein avoid serious prison time—Trump’s lingering ties to the late financier are once again casting a shadow over his presidency.

Whether the public holds him accountable is another matter entirely.
