President Donald Trump’s reputation for bending the rules—whether in politics or on the putting green—has erupted into fresh controversy after viral footage captured him allegedly cheating during a weekend round at his Scottish golf resort.

The scene unfolded at Trump Turnberry, where the president was caught on camera as his caddy performed what one eyewitness called “the most obvious golf trick in the book.” The video, which spread across social media within hours, shows Trump’s caddy nonchalantly tossing a ball onto the fairway after Trump sent his original shot deep into the rough.

CBS Mornings hosts wasted no time taking aim at the president’s questionable golf ethics. “Come on, bro! You can’t be doing that,” cracked anchor Vladimir Duthiers during Monday’s broadcast. “When it’s behind the back, that looks a little suspicious,” added co-host Adriana Diaz, prompting laughter from the panel.

But as millions of Americans know, this isn’t just a golf story—it’s a window into a much larger debate about the president’s character and his lifelong pattern of rule-breaking.

“This is the guy who claims he’s the best golfer to ever occupy the White House, but can’t resist a no-look Mulligan,” scoffed Nate Burleson, himself an avid golfer. “As a golfer, you’re supposed to do your own drop if you can’t find your ball. Not your caddy just doing a no-look pass.”

Golf enthusiasts online were quick to note that what Trump’s caddy did—surreptitiously dropping a replacement ball—breaks one of the sport’s oldest rules. Some Trump defenders insisted it was a “provisional” drop, but seasoned golfers remained unconvinced.

One longtime Turnberry club member, speaking on background, called the stunt “embarrassing for the game.” “It’s one thing to take a Mulligan with your buddies,” he said. “It’s another to do it on the world stage while cameras are rolling and you’re supposed to be the leader of the free world.”

Governor Gavin Newsom’s office wasted no time weaponizing the footage, firing off a viral jab on social media: “Trump. Rigging the game. We’re shocked!” The post quickly racked up thousands of likes and shares, with many Americans drawing not-so-subtle parallels between Trump’s on-course behavior and his tumultuous political track record.

Trump, who has long bragged about his supposed 2.6 handicap and “legendary” golf game, has been dogged by rumors of cheating for years. Sportswriter Rick Reilly, who played multiple rounds with Trump, once wrote, “If Trump is within 10 feet of the hole, that ball is magically in.” Trump, for his part, dismisses the accusations as “fake news.”

But this latest incident lands at a time when voters are questioning the president’s honesty and leadership as the 2026 midterms approach. “There’s a reason so many Americans see this as more than just a golf gaffe,” said Dr. Leah Wooten, a political science professor at Columbia University. “It’s about trust. It’s about integrity. And it’s about whether the president thinks the rules apply to him.”

For now, the viral video of Trump’s Scottish golf adventure has handed late-night comedians and his political rivals a gift-wrapped metaphor for the state of the Trump White House in 2025: still playing by its own rules, and still getting caught.

  1. First off, I have a couple or responses for the ASSHOLE that wrote this fictious account of President Trump taking to enjoy a round of golf on “His Course!”
First off, This is Trump’s Country Club and course! He was not playing tournament or playing money so he free to do what he wishes. In fact the caddy might have moved the ball as a courtesy for him to help expedite play!
Trump’s time is critical so moving him along may have been imperative!
Trump was not playing for money or reward. He was relaxing prior to his EU Summit meetings.
If the President was playing tournament golf or had money bet on the side that wouldn’t have happened. Especially when ASSHOLES like the writer of the bullshit piece is hanging around to post lies, and whatever crap the Fake News press puts out there. They should know that without him and his allowing these pricks on the grounds, which he didn’t have to do, they wouldn’t have their pathetic jobs!

  2. Big story here as usual from nextgennews!! NOT!! So Trump ‘s caddy dropped a ball so Trump didn’t have to play out of the rough…. Do you know if he took a strike for thst which is common?? No of course you didn’t!

And instead of this stupid story how about reporting on the EU trade deal???

  3. Let’s talk about cheating! Clinton have oral sex in office with net desk let’s talk about lying! Clinton lying under oath about it. Gee who’s up on that discussion?!
