Mark Epstein isn’t buying the official story—and he’s calling out the federal government for what he sees as a cover-up.

In a blistering interview with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation Tuesday night, the brother of disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein slammed the FBI and Department of Justice for what he says is a “laughable” conclusion: that Epstein took his own life in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019.

“When Kash Patel came out with that statement, I laughed at how stupid it was,” Mark Epstein said, referring to the current FBI Director’s recent comments reaffirming Epstein’s death as a suicide. “Every time they try to shut the door on the murder theory, they just end up looking more ridiculous.”

A Question of Credibility

Kash Patel, a former Trump administration official who was appointed FBI Director in early 2025, recently told the Senate Judiciary Committee: “You know a suicide when you see it.” That comment struck a nerve with Epstein’s brother.

“Really?” Mark scoffed. “He’s not a doctor. He’s not a forensic pathologist. Does he even have a Boy Scout first aid badge? Was he in the autopsy room? Was he in the prison? If he was, that raises a whole new set of questions.”

Dueling Autopsies, Lingering Doubts

Two medical examiners have reviewed Epstein’s death: New York City’s official examiner Dr. Kristin Roman, and famed pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, who was hired by the family. Neither could definitively rule out homicide.

Baden famously noted in 2019 that Epstein had broken neck bones more commonly associated with strangulation than hanging—a finding that sparked global speculation and fueled years of conspiracy theories.

“Why is everyone so desperate to shut this down?” Mark Epstein asked. “We were told the cameras failed, the guards were asleep, and now we’re supposed to believe this was an open-and-shut suicide? Come on.”

No ‘Client List,’ DOJ Insists

Adding fuel to the fire, the Justice Department this week also declared that Epstein kept no “client list”—a claim many find hard to believe, given Epstein’s years of high-level social connections and the trove of names that appeared in court documents.

Yet former Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed earlier this year: “I have the list sitting on my desk right now.” The DOJ now says that was a mischaracterization.

A Story That Won’t Die

Jeffrey Epstein, who was facing federal sex trafficking charges when he died, was at the center of a vast web of scandal involving underage girls, high-profile friends, and alleged blackmail operations. His death, which came just weeks after being removed from suicide watch, has been questioned by politicians, pathologists, and the public alike.

“I’m not a conspiracy theorist,” Mark Epstein said. “But I am someone who wants real answers. And right now, all they’re offering is damage control.”

With the DOJ doubling down on suicide and dismissing the client list entirely, critics say the Epstein saga is far from over.

“This case isn’t closed,” Mark warned. “Not by a long shot.”
