While families in Texas were being torn apart by raging floodwaters, Senator Ted Cruz was thousands of miles away—snapping tourist photos at the Parthenon.

That’s right. As over 100 people died—including 27 children and camp staff swept away in a flash flood—Cruz was sightseeing in sunny Athens with his wife, apparently unmoved by the tragedy engulfing his home state.

“He walked right by me while people were dying,” said American tourist Michael Rocchio, who encountered Cruz outside the ancient Greek landmark. “I told him, ‘Twenty kids dead in Texas and you take a vacation?’ He grunted and kept walking. His wife looked like she wanted to kill me.”

The flood began July 4 and rapidly became one of the deadliest natural disasters in Texas history. Entire neighborhoods were underwater. Rescue teams worked nonstop. Parents waited for word on missing children.

And Ted Cruz? He was on vacation.

Eyewitnesses spotted him Saturday evening, July 5—more than 24 hours after floodwaters swallowed Camp Mystic—casually lining up to tour Athens’ most iconic ruins. At that exact moment, divers were dragging bodies from the Guadalupe River.

This disaster isn’t new for Cruz. Neither is his response: flee.

In 2021, Cruz jetted to Cancun while Texans froze to death in a winter blackout. Now, he’s done it again—leaving the country as a humanitarian nightmare unfolds back home.

On Thursday, while Texas was bracing for historic flooding and the state emergency response was being activated, Cruz boarded a flight to Europe. On Friday, as flood victims were swept away, acting Governor Dan Patrick gave a grim press conference: “This is no longer a celebration—it’s a disaster.”

Cruz didn’t bother flying back until Sunday.

On Monday, Cruz finally showed up in flood-stricken Kerrville, Texas. At a press conference, he claimed he had been “working the phones” from Greece. “I called President Trump,” he said. “He was eating dinner. I told him it looked really bad. He said, ‘Ted, whatever you need.’”

Critics say that’s not leadership—it’s PR damage control.

“If you can call the president, you can call a pilot,” snapped Texas Rep. Alma Hernandez (D-San Antonio). “He abandoned us—again. Families were drowning while he played tourist.”

Before publication, Cruz’s office tried to speak off the record. Then, after the story broke, his communications director Macarena Martinez went nuclear on X: “A bulls— piece from a bulls— rag.”

But Martinez never denied the facts: Cruz was in Greece. Children were dying. And the senator didn’t come back until it made headlines.

At the press conference, Cruz revealed his own daughter had just attended a summer camp five miles from Camp Mystic. “I’ve spoken to parents whose daughters are still missing,” he said. “There’s nothing like that agony.”

Texans are asking: if he understands that agony, why wasn’t he here?

One grieving mother, whose daughter is still unaccounted for, told us: “I don’t need his pity. I needed his leadership. And once again, he was nowhere.”

    1. This same deadly flood happened in same place back in 1987… they should have made some changes by now…

  1. This is not good for Ted. He should be making some kind of speech concerning this tragedy, unless he is not planning to run again for re-election!

  2. I saw Cruz in Texas this morning on the news. What bogus shit you are reporting. Lousy Leftis Socuslisr Media.

    Sent from AOL on Android

    1. He spent quite a bit of time addressing the loss of life. Democrats just can’t stop with the lies.

  3. Funny I saw him on the news tonight on site asking what they had to do to help and prevent this from happening again.
I forgot he isn’t suppose to schedule a trip in case there is an emergency

    1. You are so right. Do you think those parents would have sent their precious children to the camp, if they had the slightest idea something so tragic could happen?
Whether Rep or Dem, please let this man have a life with his family…Just don’t understand the mentality of someone always wanting to pick at another…Let there be Peace, please, please….

  4. I could swear Cruz was standing behind the Mayor of Kerrville. Is this another of those believe us and not your eyes moment.

    1. Senator Cruz can’t do anything about a tragic flood. Quot trying to blame someone for an act of nature. FEMA can help but no one can bring back lost loved ones. Sorry for everyone who had a loss of a loved one. God promises we will see one another again
He proved that himself and the raising of Lazarus. Some of you just have to blame someone look sometimes bad things happen to good people. Send your monies to NGO helping the victims.

  5. Where was nextgennews when Biden wasn’t there for the people of north and South Carolina and Florida with the hurricanes????

Here’s the situation a legislator has no authority to call out the national guard, the army corps of engineers, rescue responders or FEMA….. those duties fall on the Govenor and the President. And unlike the democrats the republican Govenor and president were doing what needs to be done!!

  6. Excuse me he did not know  this was going to happen . What’s wrong with you people, you are very sick individuals. SMH never se

  7. That a boy! You certainly like to rolls where you play a brave and heroic man. Run, like the coward you truly are! Can you at least donate one or two billion dollars? I have no doubt you will have many, many billions left to have your selfish fun with…..or do you have trillions?

    1. And you also eat with that mouth? Obvious momma didn’t use enough soap when she washed it out the last few times. Lugging all that hate, and disdain around must be a heavy cross to bear.

  8. the flooding started fri. am in the wee hrs. he flew back sunday, to ACT like he cared. not the 1st time. in feb ’21 he flew to cancun, as we we’re all freezing. no power, no phones, nothing, while he knew & sat under his beach umbrella. being there for your citizens & with them comes with being a senator. plus, he left his dog home alone & when power went the dog suffered.

  9. TYPICAL DEMOCRATS, ALWAYS BLAMING THE REPUBLICANS. THATS ALL YOU BUNCH OF BIDENEERS HAVE TO OFFER, NOTHING ELSE. REMEMBER, THE DEVIL IS DEMOCRAT.
SATAN IS YOUR BOSS, HE CONTROLLS THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, YOU BUNCH OF EVIL PEOPLE…….CON SAFO!!

  10. The haters expected him to run down and jump in the river to try and save somebody!
    Stupidity of the left!

  11. I saw him today at the river giving an interview with news. Why are the democrats trying to blame him for something he had no control at what happened.
People need to be praying for the loss of the poor children and Adults that have passed away instead of trying to blame anyone they think they can get rid of. I hope not, I really like Ted Cruz and he fights fir America.

  12. “Ted Cruz Abandons Texas in Crisis… Again as Flood Turns Deadly”
In other breaking, less than nothing news; Mr. Ed the talking horse is still dead.

‘NextGen Spews’ As President so perfectly worded it,
    FAKE NEWS!

    1. Yes I did vote for Trump and I would do it again He’s got more love for this country than any other president. Especially the crooked three
