Musk and Bannon Fight Goes Nuclear: Jail Time, Deportation, and a MAGA Meltdown

The MAGA movement is eating itself alive — and the latest civil war has two of its biggest names at the center: Elon Musk and Steve Bannon.

What started as political friction has erupted into a scorched-earth battle filled with threats of prison, deportation, and personal attacks that leave little room for reconciliation.

The chaos began Tuesday when President Trump publicly lashed out at Musk, hinting that his administration was “re-evaluating” Tesla’s federal subsidies and openly musing about deporting the billionaire entrepreneur.

“Elon is very upset that the EV mandate is going to be terminated,” Trump said at a press event. “He gets a lot of subsidies… but DOGE [Department of Government Efficiency] might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”

It wasn’t long before users on X (formerly Twitter) brought up Steve Bannon’s earlier comments urging Trump to nationalize Musk’s companies and investigate his alleged drug use. Musk, never one to ignore a shot, responded with a blistering tweet:

“Bannon is going back to prison. This time for a long time.”

Bannon, a former White House chief strategist and longtime far-right agitator, didn’t hold back. In a fiery tirade on his “War Room” podcast, he declared:

“Elon Musk doesn’t give a damn about the working class. He doesn’t care about Trump’s promises. All he cares about is his f—ing stock price.”

Then came the dagger:

“Elon’s not a conservative. He’s not MAGA. He’s not even American. Go back to South Africa and start your own party.”

This isn’t just a personality clash — it’s a political power struggle inside the fractured post-Trump right. Bannon, once seen as Trump’s ideological compass, has stayed fiercely loyal to the president even after his 2024 jail stint for defying Congress over January 6.

Musk, by contrast, has morphed into Trump’s most influential critic from the right, funding efforts to primary MAGA-aligned Republicans and pushing a new third party, dubbed the “America Party.”

“Elon’s trying to hijack populism for billionaires,” said a former White House aide familiar with the feud. “And Bannon sees that as a direct threat to Trump’s grip on the base.”

Their war of words has gotten increasingly vicious. In June, Musk called Bannon a “r—–d liar” and “dumber than a doorstop.” Bannon, in turn, threatened to physically assault Musk on-air after the Tesla CEO liked a post calling for Trump to be impeached and replaced with Sen. JD Vance.

“You’re going to tell me we should allow some f—ing punk to say Trump should be impeached? We’re going to go to f—ing war,” Bannon fumed to Politico. “I’m going to rip your f—ing face off.”

What was once the tight inner circle of Trumpworld is now a battlefield of billionaires and extremists. With Trump fanning the flames and far-right media playing referee, the once-unified MAGA empire is cracking — and Democrats are watching with popcorn in hand.

“Musk and Bannon are two sides of the same toxic coin,” said Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL). “One wants to dismantle democracy with his checkbook, the other with a bullhorn. Let them destroy each other.”

With prison, deportation, and full-on political warfare now in play, this feud isn’t just personal — it’s a preview of what could be the Republican implosion heading into 2026.

And as Musk teeters on the edge of launching a new political party while Trump flirts with government revenge tactics, one thing is clear: the far-right is officially at war with itself.
