Trump ‘Melts Down’ After Iran-Israel Ceasefire Collapses

The 79-year-old president slammed both countries for violating the terms of the deal he had personally brokered, but directed most of his fury at longtime ally Israel.

Despite the escalation, Trump claimed in a follow-up post that “all planes are turning around” and that the ceasefire was “still in effect.” But a U.S. defense official confirmed to NBC News that Israeli jets had already struck a radar facility north of Tehran earlier that morning.

Backroom Pressure and Phone Diplomacy

According to a White House official who spoke on condition of anonymity, Trump placed a direct and “unusually stern” call to Netanyahu, warning him to halt additional strikes or risk losing U.S. support.

But nuclear watchdogs warn that the strikes may have done little to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions. According to the New York Times, intelligence agencies believe Iran relocated significant quantities of enriched uranium ahead of the attack.

As the ceasefire faltered, Trump lashed out—less at the adversaries overseas and more at the media outlets covering the chaos.

“These networks—CNN, MSDNC—they’re gutless losers,” Trump declared. “They owe our pilots an apology.”

He specifically targeted Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, calling him a “weak, pathetic disgrace.” Roberts heads the company that owns MSNBC.

Ironically, Trump’s first media call following the Iran bombings had been to NBC’s Kristen Welker, host of Meet the Press. According to Welker, Trump told her the strikes were a “complete and total success” before he even addressed the American people.

Political Fallout and Growing Doubts

While Trump framed the ceasefire as a turning point, critics say his erratic behavior and premature victory lap have once again undercut U.S. credibility abroad.

Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice told MSNBC, “This was never a real ceasefire. It was a PR stunt wrapped in military aggression. And now people are dead.”

Even some within his own administration are privately concerned. One official told Politico, “He wants a Nobel moment. But you don’t get peace by shouting obscenities on the South Lawn.”

With the ceasefire now on life support, the Biden campaign issued a brief statement: “The world deserves steady leadership, not another Trump tantrum.”

For now, the situation remains fluid. Airstrikes have temporarily halted, but tensions are simmering just beneath the surface. Iranian media report increased military readiness, and Israeli officials continue to vow retribution.
