In a moment of unscripted absurdity during a press event meant to highlight tech policy, President Donald Trump took a detour—into marriage counseling.
With cameras rolling, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked Trump about a now-viral video showing French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife, Brigitte, appearing to swat her husband’s face aboard a plane in Vietnam. Trump smirked, leaned into the mic, and delivered his version of wisdom: “Make sure the door remains closed.”
That door, by the way, was wide open on the aircraft where the alleged slap took place—giving the world a clear view of a moment Macron later dismissed as harmless “horsing around.”
But Trump wasn’t done. “I spoke to Emmanuel. He’s fine. They’re fine,” Trump insisted. “They’re good people. I know them very well. I don’t know what that was about, but they’re okay.”
This from a president who has been married three times, publicly cheated on his wives, and paid hush money to a porn star—a man not exactly known for modeling stable relationships.
Enter Elon Musk—with a Black Eye
Oddly enough, the exchange took place during a press conference centered around tech mogul Elon Musk. Seizing the moment, Musk gestured to his bruised face and quipped, “I’ve got a little shiner here,” blaming his five-year-old son for socking him during a play fight.
“That’s what happens when you ask a toddler to punch you,” Musk joked, drawing a strange, almost satirical parallel to Macron’s own claim that his wife’s slap was all in fun.
But while Macron’s team brushed off the footage as media exaggeration, critics weren’t buying it—and Trump’s unsolicited commentary only added fuel to the spectacle.
Trump’s History of Unsolicited Relationship Commentary
This isn’t Trump’s first foray into unsolicited relationship critique. Long before the presidency, he famously fixated on the Kristen Stewart–Robert Pattinson breakup. In 2012, Trump tweeted—repeatedly—urging Pattinson not to reconcile with Stewart, writing, “She cheated on him like a dog… He can do much better!”
Yes, the sitting president once tweeted over ten times about a teenage vampire romance.
Stewart, in turn, mocked him during her 2017 Saturday Night Live monologue: “I’m a little nervous to be hosting because I know that the president’s probably watching and, um, I don’t think he likes me that much.”
The Real Takeaway?
At a time when global diplomacy should be front and center, Trump continues to play reality TV commentator-in-chief. His ability to pivot from international policy to personal jabs, all while maintaining the thinnest veneer of sincerity, might be a masterclass in distraction—but it’s certainly not diplomacy.
As for marriage advice from Donald Trump? Given his record, the Macrons—and the rest of us—might want to look elsewhere.

Your writing is garbage, bias bleeding out everywhere.
😂🤣
it’s ONLY bias when y’all don’t like it. when it seems pro trump, y’all love it. make up your damn minds. it IS a 2 way street.
No. That’s incorrect!
I’m looking for real news just like Walter Cronkite reported with opinions in the op ed column. News like, the Hoithas have agreed to stop attacking shipping. That’s news! Who cares about Macron ‘s marriage? Just like stay out of the Obama’s personal life too! I’d like to see a follow up real news article confirming that the Houthi’s have honored their word about shipping! That affects the world economy not Macron’s marriage ! Or whether DJT gave advice about their marriage!! Who cares
