“Trump Knows Best,” declares president as critics blast move as ‘celebrity justice’
President Donald Trump has once again thrown a lifeline to the wealthy and well-connected—this time to reality TV personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley. In a stunning move announced Tuesday, the White House revealed that the former Chrisley Knows Best stars will receive full presidential pardons, despite their 2022 convictions for fraud and tax evasion.
The decision sent shockwaves through both political and legal circles, with critics accusing Trump of using his executive power to reward fame over justice.
“Trump Knows Best!” read the White House’s social media announcement, as if mocking the justice system that sentenced the Chrisleys to a combined 19 years behind bars.
A Reality Show Turned Real-Life Crime Story
The Chrisleys rose to fame portraying a polished Southern lifestyle on their hit USA Network series, which premiered in 2014. Behind the scenes, however, prosecutors say the couple was orchestrating a criminal scheme that defrauded banks out of more than $30 million.
Todd Chrisley, once boasting about his empire of luxury real estate and high fashion, had previously filed for bankruptcy to escape over $20 million in unpaid loans. By 2022, he was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison; Julie received seven. They were also ordered to repay nearly $18 million in restitution.
In July 2023, an appeals court upheld their convictions but found Julie’s sentence had been miscalculated, sending her case back for resentencing. Still, both have maintained their innocence, claiming corruption in the justice system.
Savannah Chrisley Lobbied Trump Behind the Scenes
Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has been openly pushing for a presidential pardon for over a year. A vocal supporter of Trump who spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention, she recently told People magazine that her family was “standing in truth” and had seen “corruption in Fulton County.”
That lobbying appears to have paid off. On Tuesday, Trump personally called Savannah to deliver the news, with video of the moment quickly blasted across social media by his aide Margo Martin.
“We thought it was going to end differently,” Savannah said in February. “But it did, and now we’re going to fight to make it right.”
She and her brother could be heard thanking the president on the call, which many saw as both political theater and a nod to Trump’s continued loyalty to his celebrity base.
A Pattern of Pardon Power for the Famous?
This isn’t the first time Trump has used his clemency powers to help high-profile personalities. From rapper Kodak Black to former adviser Roger Stone, his history of pardons often favors loyalty, notoriety, or both.
Legal experts and Democratic lawmakers have already begun raising red flags.
“This is what happens when celebrity trumps accountability,” said Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). “Hard-working Americans go to prison for tax fraud every day. But if you have a TV show and praise Trump, you get a pardon.”
The Chrisleys remain polarizing figures. To their fans, they’re wrongly punished media darlings. To critics, they’re con artists who manipulated fame for financial gain. And to Trump, they’re another example of political capital with a camera-ready story.
As of Tuesday evening, the Department of Justice has not issued any statement on the pardons.
This is a developing story and will be updated.

How about the pardon of hunter biden, Anthony Fauci and others who were part of the Biden crime family? How exactly did Biden amass a $200 million fortune from governmental salaries???? But he pardoned people who not only hadn’t been convicted but hadn’t even been charged yet- pre-emptive pardons? How do you pardon someone from something they weren’t even convicted of??? Talk about abuse of power!! That was not what the founding fathers intended when they created pardon powers
Biden Pardoned Hunter
Other people have received 3 to 4 years for the offenses. In fact one of such was in housewives of New Jersey. They were sentenced a lot less time and the husband was deported. Yet the Crisleys received 19 years. The judge stated he would make an example of them.
the 19 yrs was a combined sentence. 13 for him 6 for her. it was $30M, BUG BUCKS. hunter was a preemptive cuz they just wouldn’t leave him alone period. faucie either. trump is doing all this for money. biden didn’t. BIG DIFFERENCE. trump is selling pardons. illegal. i really think he could cut someone’s throat & you’d say the person was choking & he was trying to save them. WAKE UP!!
or commit yourselves! i see, even buzz has been quiet on these.
