As the bombshell federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to unfold in New York, a surprising name has re-entered the spotlight: Donald Trump.
On Monday, Diddy’s former assistant, David James, took the stand and made a stunning revelation — the music mogul’s favorite hotel wasn’t a luxury hideaway in Europe or Beverly Hills. It was the Trump International Hotel in Manhattan.
“Trump International, they knew me very well — they gave me a key,” James testified, adding that the staff was so familiar with Diddy’s needs, they essentially operated like an extension of his entourage. James claimed he was regularly sent ahead to prep rooms for Diddy, transforming luxury suites into makeshift vanity stations with “30 to 40 skincare products,” drinks, clothes, and even a custom medicine bag. “Everything had to be in place — perfectly arranged before he arrived.”
The assistant’s testimony didn’t stop at logistics. He told jurors Diddy used humiliation and blackmail to assert control, claiming the Bad Boy mogul secretly recorded a video of him under the influence of ecstasy and vodka, dancing wildly in a moment James described as deeply uncharacteristic. “He told me, ‘I’m going to keep this footage in case I need it.’”
“That was his way of keeping power over me,” James said, visibly emotional. “It would have been devastating if he released it.”
The mention of Trump in the proceedings is raising new questions about the former president’s longstanding ties to Diddy — a relationship that has flown largely under the radar since Trump’s political rise. In a resurfaced 2004 interview, Trump once called Diddy a “good friend” and said he “loved” the hip-hop mogul.
Critics on the left are raising alarms about what this relationship could mean, especially after incarcerated rap producer Suge Knight reportedly claimed in a recent jailhouse phone call that “President Trump will pardon Diddy” if he’s convicted.
The Combs trial, which has already shaken the foundations of the music industry, is now threatening to spill into political territory. With allegations ranging from sexual assault to racketeering and now disturbing abuse of power dynamics with employees, the courtroom revelations paint a far darker picture of Diddy’s empire than fans ever imagined.
