In a fiery takedown, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci predicted Vice President JD Vance will soon be sidelined by Donald Trump—just like Mike Pence was.
“I predict JD Vance will go the way of Mike Pence,” Scaramucci said during a sharp appearance on CNN Friday. “Trump will marginalize him. He’ll undercut him. He doesn’t like how much attention Vance is getting.”
Scaramucci’s remarks come amid growing buzz in right-wing circles that Vance is trying a little too hard to play Trump’s shadow.
Clips rolled on CNN showed Vance parroting Trump almost word for word during speeches. The host also noted the VP has been spotted in nearly identical outfits to Trump’s—including matching red ties and blue suits—on more than one occasion.
“I understand the mimicking, but this is too much,” Scaramucci said. “If he shaves his beard, that’ll be the final sign he’s completely surrendered his identity.”
Scaramucci, who famously lasted just 11 days in the Trump White House before being fired, said he knows firsthand what Trump likes—and what he can’t stand.
“Trump doesn’t respect sycophants,” he said bluntly. “He wants loyalty, but he doesn’t want clones.”
This isn’t the first time questions have swirled around Trump’s true feelings toward Vance. The former president has repeatedly dodged questions about whether he sees Vance as the future of the MAGA movement—or even a serious contender for 2028.
“He’s not the president,” Scaramucci said of Vance. “Trump is the one with the rizz. MAGA rizz, if you want to call it that. And Vance hasn’t earned it.”
According to Scaramucci, Trump’s tolerance for over-eager allies wears thin fast. “People don’t get this about Trump,” he said. “He doesn’t like the obsequious stuff. It bothers him.”
The warning comes as insiders suggest Trump may already be shopping for a more dynamic VP pick to boost his 2024 ticket—someone with independent appeal who doesn’t just echo his words but brings fresh fire to the campaign trail.
If Scaramucci’s right, Vance might want to keep one eye on the exit ramp.
