Texas Democrat Al Green is stepping into the spotlight once again. Fresh off a dramatic exit from the House, he now vows to file articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
Green, who was escorted from the chamber after interrupting Trump’s address, appeared on “TMZ Live” Thursday. His message was sharp and uncompromising. “Our party cannot sit quietly,” he declared. “We must counter incivility with righteous incivility.”
The showdown began when Trump, in a heated speech, dismissed many Democrats as “lunatics” and even took a swipe at Senator Elizabeth Warren. Green responded with a forceful rebuttal, shouting that Trump’s claim of a “mandate” was baseless before security intervened.
Green admitted that his outburst was unplanned. “I was overcome with emotion,” he said. “I had to stand up for Medicaid and for our people.” Although he did not specify when he would file the impeachment articles, his resolve is clear.
This isn’t Trump’s first rodeo with impeachment. He faced two impeachments during his first term—both ending in Senate acquittals. Yet Green believes that a third attempt might finally hold the President accountable.
Adding depth to his stance, Green emphasized the need for Democrats to reclaim their power. “When incivility threatens our values, we must respond,” he insisted. “The American people deserve leadership that stands for justice.”
Critics say Green’s actions are overly confrontational, but many progressives praise his passion and commitment. His bold move reflects a growing impatience with what he calls the President’s disregard for decency.
