Mandy Moore is demanding answers from Amazon after the company delivered a package to her in-laws’ home—despite the fact that it had been reduced to ashes by the Los Angeles wildfires.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the actress and singer posted a haunting image: the remains of the house, charred and unrecognizable, with a pristine Amazon package sitting among the rubble.
“Can we not have better discretion than to leave a package at a residence that no longer exists?” Moore, 40, wrote. “This is my mother and father-in-law’s home. Smh.”
Amazon Responds to Backlash
The post quickly gained traction, forcing Amazon to address the situation. In a statement, Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly expressed regret over the misstep.
“We’ve reached out to Ms. Moore via Instagram to apologize for this and to ask for more information from her in-laws so we’re better able to investigate what happened here,” Kelly said.
He also acknowledged the company’s failure to follow its own internal guidance. “For weeks, we’ve advised those who are delivering on our behalf in Southern California to use discretion in areas impacted by wildfires—especially if it involves delivering to a damaged home. That clearly didn’t happen here.”
A Family Devastated by the Fires
The wildfires that swept through Los Angeles in January left widespread destruction, and Moore’s family was hit hard.
Her brother-in-law, Griffin Goldsmith, and his wife also lost their home in the fires. Moore shared their GoFundMe campaign, urging support for those affected.
Even Moore’s own home wasn’t spared. The Eaton Fire severely damaged the house she shares with her husband, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith, leaving it uninhabitable.
Fortunately, the couple found refuge with close friends. Fellow actress Hilary Duff and her husband, musician Matthew Koma, opened their home to Moore and her family during the crisis.
Hollywood Friends Offer Support
Moore’s former This Is Us co-star Sterling K. Brown spoke out about her situation, emphasizing the emotional toll the disaster has taken.
“She’s very much in the midst of it all,” Brown shared in an interview. “It’s one day at a time.”
As Moore navigates the aftermath of the disaster, her message to Amazon remains clear: companies must be more mindful in disaster zones. “Do better,” she urged—and millions are listening.

You can\’t blame Amazon for that!! You can change your items shipping destination until it is processed, sometimes they can catch it in transit. Even if your house is damaged, they would have no idea where else to send it if you can\’t let them know. You probably need to make arrangements for your future shipments and mail to go to. Until your home is rebuilt or repaired, etc. I understand. I had a treehit our home years ago, less than 2 wks after I paid to evaluate that the tree was safe!! It was so bad we couldn\’t live in our home for a year!! That was even before wiring behind the stove caught fire because the home was so damaged and contractors insisted on leaving power active!! With 4 kids, 12 down to 3, youngest was autistic!! 4 different temporary housing apartments, kids had 4 different s hooks I had to transport them to each day, not including activities, etc. It was our worst nightmare. Biggest blessing, we were all safe, unharmed. I was in my sewing room working minutes before the tree hit and mad a large part of tree trunk land in chair I was in minutes earlier!! We have tri level with additions, 3 roofs, all damaged. So my thoughts, prayers go to everyone that loses the use of their home due to fire, weather, etc. It is devastating. You can handle anything as long as you are all safe and together. That\’s what matters most!! God will not give you more than you can handle. We go through hardships so that God can mold us into what he needs us to be. So we can become better people, have an opportunity to rethink things, help others instead of being selfish or self centered. If we all do that, the world would be a much better place.
