Republican Senator Goes on Bizarre Rant About ‘Sex and Omelets’

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Louisiana Senator John Kennedy is no stranger to colorful language, but his latest remarks have left many scratching their heads. In a heated Fox News segment, the Republican lawmaker bizarrely declared that he “likes omelets better than sex” while defending Elon Musk’s decision to cut ties with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Kennedy, a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump, attempted to frame the agency’s defunding as necessary, using a scrambled metaphor to make his point. “I like omelets better than sex. Not really, but you get the point,” he said, before adding, “You can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs.”

His comments came in response to backlash over Musk’s decision to pull support from USAID, an organization responsible for international humanitarian aid, democracy-building programs, and disaster relief. Critics argue that Musk’s move—and Kennedy’s defense of it—is part of a broader conservative push to dismantle government institutions under Trump’s influence.

Kennedy didn’t stop there. Taking a swipe at the agency’s employees, he referred to them as “tofu-eating wokerati,” a phrase seemingly borrowed from former U.K. Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who in 2022 described left-wing activists as “Guardian-reading, tofu-eating wokerati.” The phrase became a viral meme, often used by conservatives to mock progressives.

“To my friends who are upset,” Kennedy added, “I would say with respect, call somebody who cares.”

His words, however, have only fueled concerns among Democrats. Many see this as a warning shot that USAID won’t be the last agency on the chopping block. “Make no mistake,” Kennedy said, “USAID is just the first. The Department of Education is next.”

His remarks come at a time of increasing partisan tension over the future of federal agencies under a potential second Trump presidency. While conservatives argue these institutions have become bloated and politically biased, opponents see the cuts as an ideological attack on programs that serve critical domestic and global functions.

“Elon Musk doesn’t owe USAID anything,” Kennedy argued. “If they want their money, they can go beg somebody else for it.”
