President-elect Donald Trump’s unconventional approach to governance made headlines once again as musician Kid Rock revealed details of a bizarre phone call. Speaking on Fox & Friends on Sunday, the rocker shared that Trump had personally phoned him to address a joke involving strippers and to seek his opinion on inauguration logistics.

Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, recounted how Trump reached out after hearing a joke the singer had made about being prohibited by the Secret Service from featuring strippers at a Trump rally in Washington, D.C. The event, scheduled for Sunday at Capital One Arena, was part of the pre-inauguration celebrations.

“Friday morning, I got a call from the President and Melania,” Ritchie said. “It was kind of mind-blowing. I’ve tried to leave him alone—he’s got a lot on his plate, I would think.”

Ritchie said Trump directly asked, “Did the Secret Service really tell you that you can’t use strippers?”

The singer clarified that it was all in jest. “No, sir, I was just joking around,” he replied. According to Ritchie, Trump laughed and said, “Ah, that’s funny.”

Kid Rock confirmed he would perform four songs at the rally, teasing a mix of new and classic tracks. “It’ll be something old, something new,” he told the hosts. The singer’s appearance highlights Trump’s continued appeal to his populist base, who often admire figures like Ritchie for their brash personas.

In a surprising twist, Kid Rock also revealed that Trump sought his input on whether to move the inauguration ceremony indoors due to frigid temperatures forecast for the Washington, D.C. area on Monday.

“It caught me off guard,” Ritchie admitted. “I mean, he’s asking me about this historic event. I’m just the guy who wrote ‘Redneck Paradise.’”

According to Ritchie, Trump expressed concern for public safety, saying, “Let me ask you a question—people could really have a bad experience, maybe some people could get hurt, our first responders… What do you think about me moving the inauguration indoors?”

Ritchie described his reaction as flustered: “I’m like… uh, me? You’re asking me?” Ultimately, Trump decided to hold the ceremony indoors, a decision praised by some as practical given the harsh weather conditions.

This episode underscores Trump’s penchant for unconventional decision-making and reliance on an eclectic mix of advisors. While critics may see these moments as trivial or inappropriate, supporters often applaud Trump’s down-to-earth approach and accessibility.

For Ritchie, the experience was surreal. “I’m just a guy who likes to make music and maybe stir things up a bit. But hey, when the President calls, you pick up.”
