Actor Sebastian Harrison, known for his roles in spaghetti Westerns and foreign films, faced a life-threatening ordeal as a raging wildfire engulfed his Malibu mansion earlier this week. Trapped by a combination of fast-spreading flames and car troubles, the 59-year-old actor sought refuge behind boulders, documenting his harrowing experience in a video shared on social media.

“It Was Hell”

“It was hell. It was an inferno,” Harrison told The Telegraph. “I couldn’t see because of all the orange, breathing smoke and everything. I fell on my rib and then just took cover behind the rocks as sheets of embers flew over me.”

The ordeal began Tuesday evening when Harrison’s $2.4 million beachfront property, a home he had cherished since purchasing it in 2010, came under threat. Despite evacuation orders from local police, Harrison decided to stay behind to protect his estate and rescue his 89-year-old father, a former actor himself.

A Desperate Fight Against the Flames

Harrison described his frantic efforts to defend the property. “I tried watering the roof with a hose and moving outdoor furniture,” he said. “But the fire moved too quickly. It was at my doorstep before I could do much else.”

Unable to escape in his Mercedes due to a mechanical issue, Harrison found himself stranded as the flames consumed his home. “I stayed even though everyone else had left. I was the only one there,” he recalled.

A Narrow Escape

In a video posted on Instagram, Harrison appeared visibly shaken, filming his home as it was swallowed by flames. “I’m still hiding behind the boulders,” he said in the footage, his voice trembling with fear.

Eventually, Harrison managed to locate a working vehicle and began navigating through smoke-filled streets. “The journey was treacherous. The roads were barely visible, and the heat was unbearable,” he said. Firefighters rescued him around 9 p.m., but not before the vehicle he was driving caught fire as well.

A Legacy Reduced to Ashes

The three-acre property, once a serene retreat overlooking the Pacific, was reduced to ashes. Harrison lamented the loss but expressed gratitude for his survival. “Material things can be replaced. Lives cannot,” he said.

Harrison’s experience highlights the devastating impact of the wildfires currently ravaging California. Officials have reported that thousands of acres have been burned, with countless families displaced.

A Call for Action

The actor’s story has sparked widespread attention, with many urging stronger measures to combat climate change and improve wildfire management. “This is a wake-up call,” Harrison emphasized. “We need to act now to protect our planet and our homes.”

As California grapples with another season of destructive wildfires, Harrison’s harrowing escape serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of these disasters.

  1. The best thing a homeowner can do to prevent these devastating fires is to ensure their property and those right next door have all the downwood removed daily and there are no fallen leaves on their or their neighbor’s property.
