‘Bomb Threat’ Targeting Congresswoman Leads to Tragic Death

A fake pipe bomb threat targeting Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s home in Georgia has claimed the life of an innocent woman in a deadly twist that has left the community shaken.

The chaos began Monday when Rome police received a chilling email from a Russian IP address. The message, titled “For Palestine,” claimed a pipe bomb had been planted in Greene’s mailbox. The sender described the device in alarming detail: “a 1×8-inch galvanized pipe, end caps, a kitchen timer, wires, metal clips, and homemade black powder.” It was supposedly set to detonate over the weekend—or the next time the mailbox was opened.

Police responded immediately, deploying a bomb squad to Greene’s property. But while officers were rushing to her home, tragedy struck. A Floyd County Bomb Squad member, driving his personal GMC Sierra truck, collided with a Mazda Protégé pulling out of a private lot. The crash proved fatal for the Mazda’s driver, 66-year-old Tammie Pickelsimer. She was taken to a nearby hospital but did not survive her injuries.

Congresswoman Greene confirmed the devastating news on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m heartsick right now,” she wrote. “These violent political threats have fatal consequences. It’s an undue strain on our law enforcement who must treat them seriously.” She expressed her condolences to Pickelsimer’s family and called for swift justice against those responsible for the hoax.

The bomb threat turned out to be a grim fabrication. A search of Greene’s mailbox revealed it was empty—another example of the dangerous phenomenon of “swatting,” where fake emergency calls are made to provoke an overwhelming police response. For Greene, this marked at least the ninth time she has been targeted.

“These acts aren’t pranks; they’re deliberate attempts to terrorize and harm,” Greene said in a statement. “The perpetrators must face severe consequences.”

The FBI has taken over the investigation, and federal agents are working alongside local police to track down the email’s source. “Congresswoman Greene personally reached out to Assistant Chief Rodney Bailey overnight, expressing her devastation and offering condolences,” said Kelly Madden, a spokesperson for the Rome Police Department.

The fatal crash has added a new layer of tragedy. Pickelsimer, described by her niece as “a kind-hearted woman who loved her family,” has become the latest victim in an escalating cycle of politically motivated threats.
