South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham revealed on Wednesday that his phone was in the possession of the FBI after a scam caller impersonating Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer contacted him.
Graham made the announcement at the Hill and Valley Summit, a gathering of lawmakers, defence contractors, venture capitalists and others connected to the national security sphere, where it was first reported by The Washington Times.
The gathering is a rare island of bipartisanship around a common value: defence and warmaking. This year’s gathering was attended by Republicans including Graham as well as Democrats including Schumer himself. Former President Donald Trump also spoke to attendees via phone.
A spokeswoman for Graham, Taylor Reidy, confirmed toThe Independent on Thursday that “the Sergeant at Arms is investigating a possible hack of Senator Graham’s phone”, but did not elaborate on whether the device had been taken by the FBI. A spokesperson for the FBI declined to comment.
Graham has known Schumer for many years and has been involved in many a negotiation with the Democratic Senate leader. During the Trump administration, Graham was somewhat of a go-between connecting the Republican president to Senate Democratic leadership, as he retained personal relationships across the aisle even as he and his party drifted further to the right.
Now, he plays a different role: his fealty to Donald Trump (even after January 6) has caused a widely-reported splintering of his relationship with Joe Biden and the Biden family. In 2015 the South Carolina Senator famously choked up describing the personal tragedies endured by then-Vice President Biden, calling him “as good a man as God ever created,” but he has since fallen out of favor with his former friends.
During the 2020 presidential race, Dr Jill Biden was asked by CNN’s John Berman about her family’s relationship with Graham. Her response conveyed a deep disappointment in the senator’s rightward turn and embrace of Trumpian political tactics.
“I don’t know what happened to Lindsey. And we used to be great friends [with him] and friends with John McCain,” she said in that interview. “I mean, we traveled together with the [Senate] Foreign Relations Committee. We’ve had dinner, you know. And now he’s changed.”
Despite this, the two found themselves on the same side in 2021 when the president worked with both Democrats and Republicans in the upper chamber to ink a deal on a bipartisan infrastructure package. Graham would go on to vote for the legislation while his fellow South Carolinean, Senator Tim Scott, voted against it.

Graham has the spine of a jellyfish. He feels strongly about something right before he’s against it. The kind of career politician that does whatever it takes to get elected regardless of the wishes of his constituents or what is really good for the country.
Am I the only one that notices that it is always the right or conservatives that are far and radical, but never the left or socialist, that continue to destroy the republic?
I believe we the people need to limit terms in congress and government period. They can only serve so many years then they can’t hold a political position ever again. They could work in government after 10 years, low level jobs. Once they finish their position they shouldn’t receive government retirement either. There security clearances removed. All codes reset. If they get accused of illegal activity like stock trading they are outed for life. No one we the people choose to represent us should be allowed to gain for personal reasons like Pelosi and the swamp. If I broke even one of the laws they have I would be in prison. Right! If you can’t be honest and trustworthy then you have no place in our government. Anyone who disobey’s a sitting President should be accountable for treason. If anyone hides things from a sitting President should be charged with treason. Anyone who says anything against America and Americans should be deported and citizenship taken away. People like swamp and others who threaten a life charged. Long standing laws must be obeyed period. We the people should have the choice of recalling anyone who doesn’t do their job properly and don’t live up to the oath they take to protect we the people. Anyone in government positions or work in any entity that has contracts with the government should be held accountable for their actions. What democrats and swamp have gotten by with the past 20 plus years should have never happened. First of all allowing an illegal to become president is against the law. Threatening people against the law. Buying people for favor is plain out treason. We have to many gutless people in our government. Money is more important then the Americans lives anymore. Too many foreign countries controlling our government. Bribery is a crime. If you can be bought you have no place in America. People like Gates are America haters and should be dealt with. We the people are no longer the employer of the goons, we are their employees paying all their bills while we live on very little they live high on the hog. The elite didn’t build this country we the people did with life, blood, sweat and tears so these people could destroy what generations have done for this country. Now we expected to be slaves so illegals can police us to obey. People like Graham and McConnell are a disgrace to the American people also. Now are you are being paid by outsiders to destroy everything they can. Laws being broken and all Pelosi says is no one is above the law. She should just say people can be bought or threatened when we need them. But when do the buyers start turning on them. Obama is one of the greatest con artist’s in history. I can say this democrats and rhinos can lie through their teeth and not bat an eye and they don’t care you know the truth. Come November you will decide between freedom with President Trump or communists slaves. I for one will go down fighting for freedom.
I can’t believe how delusional many Americans have become & I am including us Canadians who are also Americans but not US citizens since most of them have been brainwashed into believing that all of America belongs to them while their states sure don’t seem to be united anymore fighting amongts themself & letting a con artist such as Trump divided them even more. Trump was known in NYC as ‘Don the Con’ long before becoming the 45th PotUS & if the US has not learned its lesson after 4yrs of this con artist & all the chaos & deaths he has caused by his rhetoric & foolish way of thinking, than Its doomed to a downward spiral of destruction! Trump even created a law that goes against God’s 1st law, which in my mind he’s like Nimrod who built a tower & tried to get to heaven his own way & Trump thinks he has impressed men & God by the towers he has built & this gives him the right to defy God’s laws! I wouldn’t be surprised to find that Trump was a desendant of Nimrod knowing much of his family’s stubborn history defying many of God’s laws, Mary Trump has seen the light & isn’t afraid to express her point of view!
