The father of Laken Riley, the Georgia nursing student killed while jogging in February, says he’s “angry” his daughter’s death is being exploited in political debates ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

In a Today show interview that aired Monday, Jason Riley addressed the furor that has exploded around the killing and immigration policy after José Antonio Ibarra, a Venezuelan national who allegedly entered the U.S. illegally in 2022, was arrested in the case. “I feel like she is being used somewhat politically,” Jason said of his slain 22-year-old daughter. “It makes me angry.”

“She was much better than that,” he continued. “She should be raised up for the person that she is.”

Jason said he is a supporter of Donald Trump and although he’d prefer Laken’s death to “not be so political,” he thinks it has sparked a needed conversation about the best way of securing the southern border and helping women, according to NBC News.

He also addressed President Joe Biden mentioning his daughter during his recent State of the Union address, in which the Democrat appeared to misname her “Lincoln Riley.” Biden said in the address that the Augusta University student had been “killed by an illegal,” though he later said he regretted using the term “illegal” instead of “undocumented person.”

“I think it’s being used politically to get those votes,” Jason said of Laken’s death. He also reportedly said the killing had “started a storm in our country” which has “incited a lot of people.”

  1. It is terrible to lose your daughter to a killer. The fact that the killer should not have been in the USA in any form is doubly difficult. As an immigrant myself, I hope the wheels of justice chew and spit this guy.

Having said that, I also like to remind people that most murders and violent crimes are committed by our own homegrown psychos specially when we talk about mass murders with guns.

Illegal immigration is a serious problem that it was about to be solved by a bipartisan deal agreed by Biden …until Trump shot it down because it would remove the issue from his campaign…BUT what about gun violence? 34,000 American are killed yearly by a sick misguided interpretation of the 2nd Amendment…when is that problem is going to be addressed?

    1. Hey the domestic psychos are numerically larger in numbers as part of numerically a much 1larger group. But the illegals criminal portion of those much smaller group is much larger in percentage If you have a mind USE It as shole

    2. Maybe well meaning… initially. Everything after your sympathetic 1st paragraph, was a bunch of lies and irresponsible ignorance. You are part of the problem.

The border was already secured under President Trump, mr. biden, with almost 100 executive orderes reversed every single policy that was working. Joe could of left everything he inherited i placecand spent his presidency at the beach.

The border issues and everything thing that goes along with it is by democratic design and the fault lies directly at bidens feet.

*just a quick note for YOU:
CALIFORNIA just passed legislation to ALLOW ILLEGALS TO CARRY FIREARMS.

I suggest you set your kool-aid down, get out from your rock and do some research… NBC and the View are not credible sources.
