A man who had been missing for several weeks was found dead inside the chimney of a Georgia home on Friday.

Police were called to the home in Macon where they found a body stuck in the chimney, local news station WMAZ reported

The coroner’s office on Saturday identified the man as Anthony Rumplik, 43, who went missing in late December. His family organized a community wide search for him last week.

He had been dead for several weeks, according to the coroner’s office.

Rumplik was passing through Macon and heading to Florida before he decided to stop and rent a house in the Courtland area, according to his sister.

The landlord notified the family after finding the house’s door open. He said the scene looked suspicious.

An autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of death, while authorities continue to investigate the case.
