GOP Pennsylvania Rep. Glenn Thompson released a statement on Tuesday announcing a recent prostate cancer diagnosis.

“After a routine physical and subsequent tests, I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. While this diagnosis is a surprise, I feel well, and I will continue my work representing the people of Pennsylvania’s 15th District,” Thompson wrote in the statement, shared on X.

Thompson has represented the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania since 2019, and his current term ends in 2025. He also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture.

“Anyone who’s worked with me knows I am a person of faith as well as an eternal optimist, both of which will guide me as I undergo treatment,” Thompson continued. “I am grateful to my medical team, my family, everyone I work with and represent in Congress.”

A number of colleagues, including Reps. Dan Bishop, R-N.C., Andrea Salinas, D-Ore., and Tim Walberg, R-Mich., showed their support for Thompson in posts on X.

“Sending you strength, courage, and best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mr. Chairman,” said Salinas.
