Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has taken a strong and decisive stand, requesting that President Biden change his mind about building a border wall at the U.S.-Mexico border. The lawmaker calls for the construction of a wall a “cruel policy” that “does nothing” and ignores the underlying causes of migration.
“The Biden administration was not required to expand construction of the border wall—and they certainly were not required to waive several environmental laws to expedite the building,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a statement. “The President needs to take responsibility for this decision and reverse course.”
She made a strong case in her plea that fences cannot stop people from escaping violence and poverty. Rather, they force migrants into more isolated and dangerous locations, raising the possibility of injury or death. Calling it a “cruel policy,” Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asked President Biden to reconsider his immigration policy and stop fueling instability.
In addition to emphasizing the significance of tackling migration’s underlying causes, the representative suggested that the US government “finally invest in meaningful immigration reform.” This demand for fundamental reform coincides with the announcement by the Biden administration that it will waive numerous federal rules in order to enable the building of a border wall in South Texas, in violation of earlier assurances.
In response to inquiries concerning the choice, President Biden stated that he tried to reroute the money allotted for the wall but encountered difficulties. “Amounts were set aside for the border wall…He murmured, “I can’t stop that.” In response to a question regarding the efficacy of a border wall in lowering illegal immigration, Biden said unequivocally that “No.”
Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, reaffirmed the administration’s position that there is no new border wall policy. The Biden administration has insisted from the beginning that building a border wall will not solve the country’s immigration problems.
The money for the border wall was first appropriated when former President Trump was in office, having made it a key platform of his victorious 2016 campaign. The outspoken opponent of President Trump, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has continuously opposed building a border wall.
Ocasio-Cortez’s demand for a reevaluation of border wall building parallels larger conversations on the policy and humanitarian aspects of immigration reform as the immigration policy debate heats up.

The underlying cause is that socialism is a horrible failure, and that socialist enemy governments want to use their malcontents to invade and destroy us. The individuals may be victims, but that makes them no less invaders.
Their governments and cultures (not their ethnicity or ancestry or skin color or genes itself) are defective, or they’d be reasonably happy where they are. It’s mostly on THEM to fix that there, not us, not here.
