A 28-year-old woman who was missing for more than three weeks has been found alive, but badly beaten.
Kayla Maree Pawa disappeared on June 12 and was last seen in Auckland, New Zealand.
She wasn’t reported missing until June 27 and was just found on Thursday but a loved one said she was ‘pretty beat up’.
Kayla is now under police protection.
‘She has been through some traumatic experiences and can’t yet make a statement to police,’ the female family member told the New Zealand Herald.
‘I know when I see her, she will break down, but we are here for her. We are pretty angry at what has gone down.’
She added that the ‘feared the worst’ when Ms Pawa disappeared, believing her to be kidnapped, and were relieved she had been found alive.
New Zealand Police confirmed Ms Pawa had been located.
‘Police can confirm the 28-year-old woman has since been located,’ a police spokesman said.
‘Further inquiries are currently under way into the incident, and at this stage we are not in a position to provide additional comment. A further update will be provided at a later stage.’
