The IRS announced today that it intends to fill hundreds of full-time and seasonal positions at its Memphis, Tennessee, processing center.
Based on this face-to-face direct recruiting activity, potential new hires may be considered for local employment and may start work within 45 to 60 days.
The event will take place on Thursday, August 18th from 9am to 5pm. At the Renasant Convention Center, 255 N Main Street, Memphis, TN 38103. It is open to the public. welcome the new guy.
Interested job applicants should bring a resume, college certificate (if applicable), and two pieces of identification (i.e., state driver’s license and/or state ID, birth certificate, U.S. passport, military ID, or social security card). Applicants are also urged to establish a USAJOBS account prior to arrival.
These jobs as administrators and tax auditors are basically entry-level positions that do not require any previous tax knowledge.
Pay starts at $15.61 an hour and increases from there. The IRS offers competitive compensation and benefits, including fixed, scheduled time, paid vacation and paid sick leave.

If all goes well for California’s fast-food workers, these new IRS employees will be making $6.39 less than burger flippers. The IRS stated that “these jobs as administrators and tax auditors are basically entry-level positions that do not require any previous tax knowledge.” I don’t want auditors with no tax knowledge looking into potentially dubious returns, and I certainly don’t consider any administrative position “entry-level”. If you don’t know what is going on at the working level, you cannot efficiently administer it.
