Dozens of cops have been injured as they clashed with a furious mob burning buses at a school.
A raging protest erupted in the state Tamil Nadu, India, today after a female student took her own life and allegedly blamed teachers.
Protesters broke into the school grounds and started setting fire to buses and police cars in a bid to demand justice over the teen’s death, The Times of India reported.
The youngster was found dead in the hostel of the private school in the Kallakurichi district.
She left a note naming two teachers who she said tortured her and some other students by forcing them to study non-stop, it’s alleged.
Parents and protesters have demanded an independent investigation.
Teachers and the school’s management team have denied all allegations of mistreating students.
The police have found no evidence against them, local media reports.
But chaos erupted today when a mob forcibly entered the school grounds.
At least 20 police officers were injured and had to be taken to hospital as they tried to stop protesters burning buses.
Security has been ramped up in the area by local government officials following the incident.
Footage shows a swarm of protesters at the site attempting to push over a bus as a fireballs smokes in the background.
The clips also shows thick black smoke billowing from the school ground as flames engulf a number of vehicles.
And photos show the shocking aftermath, with burnt-out wreckages of several school buses and debris strewn across the ground.
