The driver of a maroon Dodge Challenger stepped on the gas before he raced through a Las Vegas crossroad at speeds of more than 100 mph, triggering a multi-vehicle wreck that killed him, his passenger and seven members of the same family inside a minivan at the time.
Details surrounding the violent crash were revealed in a police report made public on Wednesday. It alleged Gary Dean Robinson’s sports vehicle sped up from 90 mph to 103 mph just seconds before the deadly incident on Jan. 29.
The speed limit in the area is 35 mph.
Authorities in north Las Vegas said the 59-year-old’s Dodge Challenger was at “full acceleration” as he blew through a red light at the intersection of Cheyenne Ave. and Commerce St. According the police report, Robinson lost control and could not stop before striking a Toyota Sienna minivan, triggering a chain reaction of crashes involving several other vehicles.
A total of 15 people were injured in the pile-up, including a 31-year-old woman who was left critically injured.
The family members killed in the crash have been identified as Jose Zacarias-Caldera, 35; and passengers David Mejia-Barrera, 25; Gabriel Mejia-Barrera, 23; Bryan Axel Zacarias, 15; Lluvia Daylenn Zacarias, 13; Adrian Zacarias, 10; and Fernando Yeshua Mejia, 5. They all lived in North Las Vegas.
Both Robinson and his passenger, 46-year-old Tanaga Ravel Miller, were also killed in the crash. It’s still not clear whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he sped through the red light
The wreck, dubbed one of the deadliest in Nevada’s history, is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Unfortunately, there is no control over idiots like the driver of the dodge, people don’t stop and think of the consequences of their actions when driving a powerful vehicle, they don’t think that they could die and take other innocent people with them, God bless these innocent people and what family members they have left to mourn
