Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday went further than he has before in publicly and directly criticizing former President Donald Trump, rebuking him as “wrong” in his criticism of Pence’s actions on Jan. 6.

His comments came after Trump earlier this week repeated the false claim that Pence had the power to hand the election to Trump in his role counting the electoral votes from the November election before Congress.

“Unfortunately, he didn’t exercise that power, he could have overturned the Election!” Trump said about Pence in a statement.

“There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress that I possessed unilateral authority to reject Electoral College votes. And I heard this week that former President Trump said I had the right to ‘overturn the election,'” Pence said in a speech Friday to a local chapter of the Federalist Society in Florida.

“President Trump is wrong. … I had no right to overturn the election,” he said. “The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone. And frankly there is almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president.”MORE: What is the Electoral Count Act and why does it present problems?

“Under the Constitution, I had no right to change the outcome of our election. And Kamala Harris will have no right to overturn the election when we beat them in 2024,” Pence continued.

He earlier told the audience of conservative lawyers, “As Constitutional conservatives, the American people must know that we will always keep our oath to the Constitution, even when it would be politically expedient to do otherwise; they must know, as the Bible says, that we will ‘keep our oath even when it hurts.'”

“Under Article II Section I, elections are conducted at the state level, not by the Congress. The only role Congress has with respect to the Electoral College is to open and count votes submitted and certified by the states. No more, no less,” he said.

Trump reacted to Pence’s speech later in the evening in a statement, saying in part, “Just saw Mike Pence’s statement on the fact that he had no right to do anything with respect to the Electoral Vote Count, other than being an automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to get Biden elected President as quickly as possible. Well, the Vice President’s position is not an automatic conveyor if obvious signs of voter fraud or irregularities exist.”

Investigations, by both independent and Republican-led efforts, have found no evidence of widescale voter fraud in the 2020 election.

  1. It is so obvious Pence is an idiot yep sure is…….to not look at stuffed ballot boxes, Zuckerburg dumping millions into the election along with Big Tech…..give me a freaking break. Democrats always fishing for something like impeachment…..ughhhhhhh. America it is time to vote the old out and new in and term limits period.

    1. You are just pissed off because Trump could not cheat better!!! Trump is great at cheating the IRS but is inferior when it comes to a match against Dems. You are such an idiot. HAHAHAHAHA!

      1. When their are Blatonsigns of irregularities going on with the mail in voting process you are definitely a lying pos and you know it. Who the hell in their right mind would vote for an obvious senile President with a mafia style family.

  2. The only candidates for the POTUS in the past three elections have been McCain, Romney and Trump versus Obama, Clinton, and Biden. None have the character, integrity, and leadership abilities of those such as Washington, Adams, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Coolidge, Truman, Eisenhower, and Reagan. Let that soak in, because that is our fault, and will be our fate.

I voted for former President Trump against Clinton and Biden. And I will vote for whoever runs against today’s Leftist Socialist Democrats. They believe not only that all is fair in love and war, but whatever Democrats say and do. They lie, cheat, and steal continually. Their core value is that the end justifies the means. They are EVIL; LET ME REPEAT, EVIL.

However, former President Trump should NOT be our candidate for the next POTUS. He had many good programs and policies, but his time wasted on McCain put Biden in office and the Democrats in power in the House and Senate.

His criticism of McCain for being a POW in North Vietnam cost us the open Senate seat in Arizona and therefore the Democrats now control the Senate. Ten of my 1964 USAF Academy classmates (pilots) endured that North Vietnam POW torture and hell. Several others died in combat. Former President Trump never once put his life on the line in war.

And his recent negative comments about Colin Powell are another example of how to lose votes from those who served with and respect his service to our country.

Trump needs to read about the success of Reagan and Coolidge who focused on programs and never wasted time belittling their political opponents.

And why does former President Trump criticize his most loyal friends and staff who may disagree with him? He is not a god and all knowing, and his biggest faults are his lack of humility (PRIDE), big ego, failure to listen to others, attacks on people because they aren’t physically beautiful, and his wasted efforts to belittle his political opponents.

We will need former President Trump’s financial help and the support of those who voted for him in the past, and only by selecting persons like DeSantis, Haley, Tim Scott, Pence, John Kennedy, Rick Scott, and Mike Pompeo will our next POTUS and Vice POTUS be experienced and wise conservatives that can save our nation.

Regarding former President Trump, I admire many of his attributes, but he has too many negative political deficiencies.

    1. I agree with you John. Only second time around, as an independent / non-partisan, I voted against Trump because I was tired of his rants against anything or anyone who had a different opinion. Trump is a big time narcissist. As soon as the country realizes that then they will fall away from him. It has already begun!

  3. Brother Sowers:
I agree with you on most of what you said, I also voted for Pres. Trump both times and he doe’s say things out loud that would better be kept to ones self. I remember FDR, Truman and the rest you mentioned they all had and did things people did not agree with. I would hate to go to war with this bunch in office now making the decisions weather I live or die. I think we need a younger person in office, the ones you named and there is others I’m sure, I like the gov. of Texas and Ted Cruz. Trump did a good job but had to many against him even at the start. Like you I will vote to get rid of this regime that’s in there now.
