The strange and intensely loyal relationship between President Donald Trump and his 34-year-old aide Natalie Harp is facing fresh scrutiny after her estranged brother claimed her devotion to the president may be rooted in a painful family dynamic.

Harp, one of Trump’s most visible and loyal personal assistants, has long been a near-constant presence at the 80-year-old president’s side. She has been photographed trailing him through the White House, standing close by in the Oval Office, and reportedly feeding him a steady stream of flattering articles, social media posts and printed-out praise.

But now her estranged brother, Preston Harp, is speaking out — and his claims are raising even more questions about the aide who has become one of the most unusual figures in Trump’s inner circle.

Preston, 38, told the Daily Beast that he believes his sister’s intense loyalty to Trump may be connected to her difficult relationship with their late father, Robert Harp, who died by suicide in July 2020.

“The way my sister interacted with and treated my dad throughout the years, it was like she wished she had a different dad,” Preston said.

He claimed Natalie seemed to search for a replacement father figure, and believes Trump may now fill that role for her.

“I think that she does see Trump as a kind of father figure because he embodies the doctrine of American exceptionalism,” Preston said.

That belief, he said, may be one of the strongest bonds between his sister and the president. Preston claimed Natalie and Trump are both deeply shaped by the idea that America is superior to other nations — a worldview that closely matches Trump’s “America First” message and his ongoing push to recast American history in more flattering terms.

“While much of the media has focused on questioning whether her relationship is something scandalous, that is not where my mind goes personally,” Preston told the outlet. “To me this is 100 percent an infatuation based on an unfortunate shared ideology of U.S. exceptionalism.”

The comments add another layer to the already bizarre public fascination with Harp, who has gone from a former One America News Network host to one of Trump’s most trusted aides.

Inside Trumpworld, she has reportedly earned the nickname “human printer” because she follows the president with a portable printer, giving him paper copies of flattering news stories, social media posts, emails and documents instead of having him read them on a screen.

According to multiple reports, Harp has also helped manage Trump’s Truth Social habit by printing out drafts for his approval before posting or resharing them from his account — sometimes late into the night.

Her closeness to Trump has reportedly concerned some people around him for years.

In Michael Wolff’s 2025 book All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America, the author claimed the Secret Service viewed the “aggressiveness” of Harp’s attention toward Trump as troubling enough that she was considered a “potential danger.”

A new book by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald Trump, also describes Harp as an intensely devoted figure in Trump’s orbit.

The book claims Harp left emotional letters for Trump in his “personal spaces” during the 2024 campaign. One letter reportedly said, “You are all that matters to me.”

The reported notes were allegedly so unsettling that Susie Wiles, who later became White House chief of staff, was left wondering, “Where am I?”

Harp’s defenders say she is simply loyal, hardworking and devoted to her job. Critics, however, see something more alarming: an aide with extraordinary access to the president who appears to operate more like a personal gatekeeper than a traditional staffer.

Her official White House title is executive assistant to the president, but her role appears far more personal than that. She is often seen just steps away from Trump, feeding him printed material and reportedly encouraging his preferred version of reality — one filled with praise, loyalty and grievance.

That level of access has made her a subject of growing curiosity and concern, especially among Trump critics who argue that the president has surrounded himself with loyalists more interested in pleasing him than challenging him.

Preston also claimed that he and Natalie were homeschooled and raised with what he described as a “completely whitewashed version of history.” He said their father did not embody the hardline American exceptionalism that Natalie later embraced.

He also previously claimed he became estranged from his family after his father’s suicide because his mother and sister allegedly wanted to say Robert Harp had died in his sleep.

“It’s hard to believe that’s my sister and my mom,” Preston told the Daily Mail. “I can’t connect with that vibe, so I’m just going to let it be.”

The White House, unsurprisingly, is standing by Harp.

When asked for comment, press secretary Karoline Leavitt praised the aide and dismissed the controversy with a familiar defense of Trump’s loyal inner circle.

“Natalie Harp is one of the most loyal and hardest-working aides on President Trump’s team,” Leavitt said.

But the latest claims are unlikely to quiet the questions surrounding Harp’s unusual role in Trump’s world.

To supporters, she may be a trusted aide who understands the president better than most. To critics, she is another symbol of a White House built around loyalty, flattery and an increasingly insulated commander-in-chief.

Either way, Natalie Harp is no longer just the woman standing quietly behind Trump with a printer.

She has become one of the most talked-about figures in his orbit — and her brother’s explosive claims have only deepened the mystery.
