Hillary Clinton is turning up the volume on what she says many Americans can already see for themselves: Donald Trump’s behavior is becoming more volatile, more extreme, and harder to ignore.

The former secretary of state went off on the president Monday after a wild stretch of headlines that included Trump’s escalating rhetoric toward Iran, his public attacks on Pope Leo XIV, and a now-deleted AI image that appeared to portray him in a Christ-like role. Clinton said the pattern was not just embarrassing, but dangerous, warning that the country cannot keep brushing off the president’s words as just another Trump spectacle.

In a post on X, Clinton flatly declared that Trump had become “fully unhinged” and said the public needs to start talking openly about what his conduct means for the country. During a Monday appearance on Morning Joe, she said the president’s recent outbursts left her feeling “sick,” arguing that his language about war, religion, and America’s place in the world has crossed into deeply alarming territory.

Clinton pointed to the past week as a breaking point. She blasted Trump over threats tied to Iran, slammed his attacks on the first American pope, and framed his rhetoric as part of a broader collapse in presidential norms. For Clinton, this is no longer about partisan sniping or old campaign grudges. It is about whether Americans are willing to accept a president who uses the weight of the office to fuel chaos, provoke global outrage, and test the limits of public desensitization.

She also widened her criticism beyond Trump himself. Clinton tore into Vice President JD Vance and others in the administration, accusing them of dressing up recklessness in grand talk about “Western Civilization” while showing little understanding of the democratic values and institutions they claim to defend. In her view, the danger is not just one man’s conduct, but the political machine around him that keeps excusing it, amplifying it, and normalizing it.

On foreign policy, Clinton was especially scathing. Drawing on her own experience with Iran diplomacy during the Obama years, she argued that serious negotiations require patience, discipline, and people willing to do the hard work behind closed doors. She mocked the current administration’s approach as unserious and chaotic, saying the same small circle of Trump allies keeps getting sent around the world to solve multiple crises at once. Her comments came after Vance and other U.S. officials spent 21 hours in talks with Iran in Islamabad, only to leave without a deal.

That failure only deepened her concern about how America now looks to the rest of the world. Clinton said U.S. allies are watching Trump’s late-night rants and increasingly wondering whether Washington has lost its grip. According to her, allies who once leaned heavily on the United States are now moving to strengthen their own defenses and prepare for a world where America feels less stable, less reliable, and more consumed by one man’s impulses.

The latest uproar surrounding Trump’s social media habits has only added fuel to that argument. His Truth Social post featuring a Christ-like AI image sparked backlash across political and religious lines before it was deleted, with even some conservatives condemning it as offensive and bizarre. Trump later claimed he believed the image showed him more like a doctor than a religious figure, but the damage was already done.

For Democrats and anti-Trump critics, Clinton’s message was blunt: stop treating this as background noise. In her telling, the bigger threat is not just that Trump keeps pushing the boundaries of what a president can say and do, but that the country is getting used to it. And that, she suggested, may be the most dangerous sign of all.
