Washington is on edge. The Middle East is bracing. And President Donald Trump is not mincing words.

In a series of explosive overnight statements, Trump warned Iran that any retaliation following joint U.S.–Israel military strikes would be met with what he called “force that has never been seen before.” The remarks came after Tehran vowed a powerful counterattack in response to coordinated assaults that reportedly targeted key Iranian military assets.

The back-and-forth threats unfolded rapidly over the weekend, escalating fears that a long-simmering shadow conflict could tip into something far more dangerous.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, Trump took to Truth Social with a blunt message directed at Iran’s leadership.

“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before,” Trump wrote. “They better not do that, however, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before.”

The warning came hours after Iranian officials signaled an aggressive response. Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, posted that Iran would strike with unprecedented force following what he described as damaging missile attacks.

“Yesterday Iran fired missiles at the United States and Israel, and they did hurt,” Larijani said. “Today we will hit them with a force that they have never experienced before.”

The rhetoric marked one of the sharpest public exchanges between the two governments in recent years.

By Sunday afternoon, Trump escalated his claims even further. He announced that U.S. forces had already dealt a major blow to Iran’s naval capabilities.

“I have just been informed that we have destroyed and sunk 9 Iranian Naval Ships, some of them relatively large and important,” Trump wrote. “We are going after the rest. They will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also. In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters.”

He added a line dripping with sarcasm: “Other than that, their Navy is doing very well!”

Pentagon officials have not yet publicly confirmed the full scope of the reported naval damage. Defense analysts caution that such claims often take days to independently verify.

The latest confrontation follows coordinated U.S.–Israel strikes early Saturday that reportedly targeted strategic military infrastructure tied to Iran’s naval and missile operations. While details remain limited, regional observers say the operation signals deeper alignment between Washington and Jerusalem amid growing tensions.

Trump framed the ongoing campaign as necessary for regional stability.

“The heavy and pinpoint bombing will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or as long as necessary to achieve our objective of peace throughout the Middle East and, indeed, the world,” he wrote.

The language echoes his long-standing “peace through strength” posture, a doctrine he has championed since his first term in office.

As the crisis unfolded overseas, Trump appeared at a high-dollar Republican fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago. Guests reportedly paid up to $1 million per ticket to attend the black-tie event.

Video circulating online showed the president greeting donors inside the resort’s ballroom and later dancing to “YMCA” and “God Bless the U.S.A.” as supporters chanted “USA.”

The juxtaposition of escalating military tensions and a celebratory fundraiser drew sharp reactions on social media, with critics questioning the optics and supporters praising what they see as decisive leadership.

Military experts warn that direct U.S.–Iran clashes carry enormous risk. Iran’s naval forces operate heavily in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil transit chokepoint. Any sustained conflict there could disrupt global energy markets and draw in additional regional powers.

So far, no formal declaration of war has been issued by either nation. But the tone has hardened dramatically.

With threats now public and force reportedly already deployed, the world is watching to see whether this confrontation ends in deterrence — or spirals into a broader regional war.

For now, Trump’s message to Tehran is unmistakable: retaliate, and the response will be overwhelming.
