A political firestorm erupted Friday after ABC’s daytime talk show The View revisited explosive allegations tied to Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump — and MAGA world did not take it quietly.

During the program’s “Hot Topics” segment, co-host Sunny Hostin referenced accusations that surfaced in previously released Epstein-related materials. Within minutes, pro-Trump influencers were calling for lawsuits and accusing the show of defamation.

The segment centered on a controversy involving documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier this week, NPR reported that certain records tied to allegations against Trump were temporarily unavailable in a broader document release. That development triggered sharp criticism from some House Democrats, who suggested key material may have been removed.

On the show, Hostin pressed the issue.

“I want to know where those pages are,” she said on air. She referenced remarks by Rep. Robert Garcia, who said he reviewed roughly 50 pages that were not initially visible in the public release. According to Hostin, those pages included an allegation from a woman who claimed she was assaulted at age 13 after being introduced to Trump by Epstein.

Hostin quickly added a caveat.

“I want to be very careful here because these are allegations,” she said. “President Trump has consistently denied all accusations and any wrongdoing.”

She described what she characterized as an FBI presentation summarizing the claim. No independent evidence has been publicly produced to substantiate the allegation, and Trump has repeatedly denied any improper conduct related to Epstein.

The Department of Justice responded forcefully this week.

In a public statement, the DOJ said, “Some of the documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election.” The statement continued: “To be clear, the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.”

The department also rejected accusations that it had deleted records, stating that any temporary removal of files was related to redactions for victims or personally identifiable information. “Nothing has been deleted,” officials said, adding that documents are restored once redactions are complete.

That explanation did little to calm Trump’s supporters.

Within minutes of the broadcast, conservative activist Laura Loomer blasted Hostin on X. “President Trump should SUE her!” she wrote, accusing the co-host of spreading false allegations.

The watchdog group Media Research Center amplified the segment through its NewsBusters arm, calling the remarks “utterly disgusting rhetoric.” Other pro-Trump accounts warned ABC could face financial consequences, referencing past high-profile legal battles involving the network.

Some critics also dragged moderator Whoopi Goldberg into the controversy, pointing to her name appearing in Epstein-related emails. Those references reportedly involved a request by her team to use Epstein’s plane for an event — not allegations of misconduct.

ABC has not announced any disciplinary action related to Friday’s broadcast. The White House has also not signaled plans for legal action.

But the episode underscores how volatile the Epstein saga remains — especially in an election year where every headline carries political weight.

For Trump’s critics, the focus remains on transparency and document access. For his supporters, the segment was another example of what they see as coordinated media attacks.

And for The View, it was just another Friday that sent political Twitter into meltdown.
