Melania Trump has reportedly banned Ivanka Trump from attending the premiere of her new documentary — a project critics already call a “$40 million disaster-in-the-making.”
And insiders say the snub wasn’t subtle.
A production source told us, “Melania didn’t want Ivanka anywhere near the rollout. She wants to control the narrative, the camera, and the room. This is her movie, not a family reunion.”
The documentary, simply titled Melania, is set to debut at the Kennedy Center on January 29 before expanding to theaters nationwide. The film was financed through a massive Amazon licensing deal pushed by Jeff Bezos — a move that stunned many in Washington, given Bezos’ past clashes with Donald Trump.
One former White House adviser put it bluntly: “Forty million dollars doesn’t buy a story. It buys silence. It buys access. That’s what this documentary is.”
But the project is already drowning in controversy.
The film is directed by Brett Ratner, the longtime Hollywood power player ousted after multiple women accused him of sexual harassment. His return behind the camera is raising eyebrows — and protests.
“This isn’t a comeback. It’s a cover-up wrapped in a vanity project,” said one veteran film critic.
Even the trailer drew laughs online. The film follows the First Lady during the first 20 chaotic days of Trump’s second term as she prepares for a largely ceremonial presence in the White House. The clip opens with her sighing, “Here we go again,” as her husband begins his inauguration speech.
Within seconds, Melania praises Trump for being both a “peacemaker” and a “unifier.” Social media exploded.
One commenter posted: “If that’s unity, popcorn’s the only reason I’m watching this.”
Behind the scenes, the Kennedy Center — now renamed the Trump Kennedy Center after a board vote pushed by Trump loyalists — is collapsing under its own culture war.
Ticket sales have cratered to their lowest levels since 2020. At least eight major shows have been canceled, along with the annual Christmas Eve jazz performance. Performers are quietly backing out, managers are furious, and longtime donors say they feel alienated.
A veteran arts administrator told us, “It used to be a cultural sanctuary. Now it feels like a political billboard with chandeliers.”
Kennedy Center head Ric Grenell defended the venue in an emotional post on X, calling critics “a woke mob” and accusing artists of turning the center into a “Democrats-only stage.”
Inside Congress, frustration is growing as well. Lawmakers quietly killed a proposal to rename the Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump — a rare bipartisan rejection of Trump-era theatrics.
But the most curious subplot may be the reported rift between Melania and Ivanka.
Their tension has simmered for years. A 2020 biography revealed that Melania called Ivanka “The Princess,” while Ivanka allegedly referred to her stepmother as “The Portrait.” The nicknames reflected a cold detente inside Trump World, where proximity to power is everything.
Now Melania is said to be drawing a hard boundary.
“She wants the spotlight,” a family insider said. “And she doesn’t want Ivanka stealing it — not even for a second.”
Ivanka, meanwhile, appears unbothered. She celebrated New Year’s in Aspen and has stayed far from Washington since her father’s return to power.
“She’s done with D.C. drama,” said a longtime friend. “She’s not fighting for screen time. She’s fighting for peace.”
Whether Melania becomes a political triumph or a cultural punchline remains to be seen.
But one thing is clear: the premiere is already more dramatic than the movie.
