Another tragedy has struck the Swayze family.
Sean Swayze — the younger brother of Dirty Dancing legend Patrick Swayze — has died at the age of 63. His passing was first reported by TMZ, with confirmation from his son Jesse Swayze, who said Sean died on December 15, 2025, in Los Angeles.
According to a death certificate obtained by People, Sean passed away due to an “upper gastrointestinal bleed,” linked to multiple serious health issues including “severe metabolic acidosis, esophageal varices, and alcoholic liver cirrhosis.”
Sean leaves behind three children: sons Jesse and Kyle, and daughter Cassie. He is also survived by his older brother Don Swayze, an actor known for his work in Sons of Thunder and True Blood.
The Swayze family is no stranger to heartbreak. Sean’s famous brother Patrick died in 2009 at age 57 after a painful battle with pancreatic cancer.
A family cousin honored Sean’s life in an emotional Instagram tribute:
“He was always fun and full of life. We are praying hard for the entire family during this difficult time. Please know that we love you and are always here for you. Sean, I love you so much, and we will miss you dearly.”
Sean may have stayed mostly out of the spotlight compared to his iconic brother, but those close to him remember a warm, spirited man who always brought joy to those around him.
