President Donald Trump’s Christmas social media marathon has sparked new concern inside and outside Washington after digital investigators discovered that many of the accounts he boosted weren’t even American — but foreign trolls posing as loyal MAGA supporters.

According to a Meidas News analysis, at least 17 of the X accounts Trump reposted during his 150-post Christmas Day spree were operated outside the United States, with many based in South Asia and Eastern Europe.

“He’s essentially being catfished by fake fans,” said one cybersecurity researcher familiar with the report. “It’s digital flattery with a geopolitical twist — and it works because he wants to believe the praise is real.”

The 79-year-old president reportedly spent the holiday largely alone at the White House, furiously posting attacks on Democrats, the media, and Somali immigrants while amplifying content from his online echo chamber.

In one peculiar feedback loop, Trump shared screenshots from X of users praising his Truth Social posts — only to repost those same screenshots back to Truth Social. “He’s essentially applauding himself across platforms,” joked one former White House aide. “It’s a hall of mirrors.”

Among the accounts he promoted was “Trump Girl,” which features a blond woman in a red MAGA hat and claims to be based in California. In reality, Meidas traced the account to South Asia. Trump reposted her claim that “The election was STOLEN. President Trump was correct.”

He also amplified a Karoline Leavitt fan page based in Taiwan — which urged mass deportations of Somali refugees — and a Charlie Kirk–themed account that appears to operate from Eastern Europe.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s social media behavior has raised red flags. Earlier this month, he posted more than 160 times in under four hours, repeatedly sharing from two South Asia–based accounts — “Sami Nathaniel” and “Caroline” — both of which peddle pro-Trump propaganda.

On Christmas, Trump reshared five posts from “Sami Nathaniel,” including one that cheered White House adviser Stephen Miller’s tirade against Somali immigrants. “America is for American again!!!” the post read.

Experts warn that Trump’s digital naivete could have broader implications. “When the President of the United States amplifies foreign disinformation, it normalizes it,” said retired NSA analyst Claire Hoffman. “It creates a feedback loop where misinformation gets presidential validation.”

The White House has not responded to requests for comment on the findings. But Democratic lawmakers are already demanding answers.

“This is not just embarrassing — it’s dangerous,” said Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD). “Foreign actors are exploiting the President’s ego to manipulate political discourse inside our country.”

For now, Trump’s Truth Social feed remains as active — and as unpredictable — as ever.

“Trump thrives on attention,” said historian Douglas Brinkley. “If it’s praise, he doesn’t care where it comes from — California or Kyiv, it’s all the same to him.”
