Photos of Vice President JD Vance dressed in drag have resurfaced online after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blasted “dudes in dresses” during a fiery speech vowing to purge “woke” culture from the military.
More than 800 top military officials listened in silence at Marine Corps Base Quantico as Hegseth, who leads the newly renamed Department of War, tore into what he called years of “toxic ideological garbage” infecting the armed forces. “No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses,” Hegseth shouted in his profanity-laced remarks. “No more climate change worship, no more gender delusions. We are done with that s—.”
The outburst quickly reignited chatter about Vance’s college days. Minnesota Senator Tina Smith reposted Hegseth’s comments alongside old images of Vance wearing a blond wig, dark outfit, necklace, and purple handbag. “You mean like your boss?” she quipped. Social media users piled on, mocking the vice president with comments like “Princess Vance” and “What a divaaaaa,” while others argued the outfit was clearly just a costume.

The photos, reportedly taken in 2012 while Vance attended Yale Law School, were dismissed by his team. “JD put on a bad wig at a party in college – not exactly scandalous,” a spokesperson told Snopes. Some defenders also chimed in, saying, “This was a long time ago, don’t judge. He looks good here.”
Hegseth’s crackdown on military “appearance standards” didn’t stop at drag. He slammed “fat troops” and vowed to reinstate strict weight requirements, declaring there would be no “fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon.” He also announced “no more beards, long hair, superficial individual expression,” though critics were quick to point out that Vance himself sports facial hair.
California Governor Gavin Newsom seized the moment, mocking the administration with a jab at President Trump’s well-known love of McDonald’s. Sharing a less-than-flattering photo of Trump eating fast food on the campaign trail, Newsom captioned it: “I guess the Commander in Chief needs to go!”

First of all, the President Trump is not a Uniformed Military member! So no need for him to go @GavinNewsom! Second of all, V.P. Vance is also no longer an Active Member of the Marine Corps, so his beard is completely a personal choice. And the wig he was sporting looks like he was actually dressed in a halloween costume rather than dressed in “drag”… The standards have been extremely lax in recent years and need to be tightened up and Hegseth is doing a GREAT job!
General Grant wore a beard and beards are back in style now along with shaved heads for younger guys… although hair long enough to grab isn’t good for a fighting person…
Hegseth, you’re starting to sound like Trump. Please, no name calling. Just do what you’re supposed to do. More training to keep our soldiers in good health and in excellent shape. Good luck to you!
Women like that Vance resembles musician Glenn Campbell…
