A peaceful afternoon in a Houston park turned into a bizarre and heated showdown after a 76-year-old woman allegedly launched into a violent tirade — all because of the sound of bagpipes.

The incident unfolded Monday at Terry Hershey Park, where Scotland native Scott Gibb was playing his bagpipes, something he says he’s done many times before without incident. But this time, the music struck a nerve.

That’s when Eunice Isgur, reportedly the wife of U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur, stormed up to Gibb in a rage.

“She came charging up to me, phone in my face, shouting that I had no right to play here,” Gibb told local station ABC13. “Then she said, ‘My husband’s a federal judge. He’ll make you stop.’”

A Musical Tradition Meets Southern Fury

Gibb, a Houston resident originally from Scotland, regularly practices the traditional instrument in local parks. “The pipes are loud, sure,” he said. “But Texans usually love it. I’ve never had a problem before.”

That changed when Isgur allegedly began recording Gibb with her phone from just inches away. Gibb’s wife soon approached and began recording Isgur in return — and that’s when things allegedly turned physical.

“She struck at my wife, hitting her phone,” Gibb said.

Video captured by the couple shows Eunice Isgur and a man believed to be her husband following the couple as they attempted to leave the park.

“My wife was recording as we walked away, and this big guy and the woman were literally chasing her,” Gibb said.

Confrontation Escalates to Arrest

According to police, the situation spiraled even further. Isgur allegedly tried to grab Gibb’s backpack and ended up tripping, suffering a black eye in the scuffle.

She was arrested shortly afterward and charged with Assault – Bodily Injury, authorities confirmed.

Despite her husband arriving on the scene during the confrontation, Judge Marvin Isgur is not accused of any wrongdoing. However, the appearance of legal intimidation — paired with Isgur’s threat to involve her federal judge husband — has raised eyebrows.

Community Response and Legal Questions

The spectacle has quickly become the talk of the neighborhood, where many were stunned by the behavior of someone so closely tied to the judiciary.

“This isn’t just about a woman getting upset over music,” one local told us. “It’s about someone connected to the justice system trying to flex power in public.”

As for Gibb, he’s not letting the incident sour his love of the pipes.

“It’s unfortunate,” he said. “But this won’t stop me from playing. Ninety-nine percent of people are kind and respectful. This was the one percent.”

Houston police are continuing their investigation. Isgur has not released a public statement.

A deeper question now lingers in the air of Terry Hershey Park: What happens when legal influence gets tangled with personal rage — and where does accountability begin?

  1. What an idiot that woman was. The beauty of the sound of bagpipes is inspirational and emotional – a tribute to the fallen.

  2. Does she possibly have dementia. Or is she just one of those people who thinks she walkers on water just because her husband is a judge.

  3. Must have missed her meds, and today there are thoughts for an obviously long-suffering Mr. Isgur.

  4. A public playing 9f bagpipes can be a beautiful way to enjoy the outdoors. The music can be an experience if you open yourself to it. To have a reaction of violence is not acceptable. If you don’t like it or enjoy it, just leave the park!! Why destroy the enjoyment for hundreds around you. I have scottish ancestry, never learned much about my ancestors, but I do enjoy experiencing anything that can help me have a connection to my past. It is sad when one individual can’t see the big picture and not allow others to enjoy such an enriching evening. Shame on you!!
