In a fiery declaration before a crowd of anti-Trump demonstrators, Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) announced plans to introduce new articles of impeachment against former President Donald Trump within the next 30 days, escalating a renewed battle over Trump’s post-presidency influence and alleged abuses of power.
“I’m coming for you, Mr. President,” Green shouted to thunderous applause at Saturday’s “Hands Off!” rally in Washington. “This David is coming for you.”
The long-serving congressman, who has repeatedly challenged Trump’s grip on power, likened the former president to a political Goliath—commanding loyalty from military leaders, the Department of Justice, and the Republican Party—but warned the crowd not to mistake size for strength.
“He does not deserve the office,” Green said. “You can’t be entrusted with liberty and justice for all. You can’t be entrusted with government of the people, by the people, for the people.”
Why Now?
Green’s timing is no accident. Just weeks ago, Trump floated the possibility of the United States taking control of Gaza, a suggestion that many viewed as dangerously imperialistic.
“Injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America,” Green said during a Feb. 5 speech on the House floor. He doubled down this weekend: “Gaza is not going to become a resort. There must be a home for the Palestinian people.”
The congressman’s message resonated in a political climate where Trump’s rhetoric on foreign policy and immigration continues to stir controversy.
A History of Resistance
This isn’t Green’s first battle with Trump. During Trump’s first term, the Texas Democrat led several impeachment efforts, none of which gained traction in a Republican-controlled Senate. But Green remains undeterred.
He’s also faced consequences. Just one day before Trump’s joint address to Congress in February, Green was formally censured by the House for disrupting the proceedings—a rare punishment that places him among only 28 lawmakers in U.S. history to be rebuked in this way.
Yet Green sees the censure as a badge of honor.
“If standing up to authoritarianism costs me political capital, so be it,” he told reporters afterward. “Some of us were sent here not just to legislate, but to defend democracy.”
The White House Fires Back
Predictably, Trump’s team responded with deflection and fear-mongering.
White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Huston accused Democrats of trying to bankrupt America’s safety net, claiming—without evidence—that their real agenda is to hand out Social Security and Medicare benefits to undocumented immigrants.
“The president’s position is clear,” Huston said in a statement to The Hill. “He will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries.”
The claim echoes familiar right-wing talking points that critics say are designed to distract from Trump’s own record of targeting these programs for cuts while in office.
Looking Ahead
Green’s renewed impeachment pledge may not succeed in a narrowly divided Congress, but it represents something more than legislative strategy. It’s a symbolic strike at a man many Democrats view as the greatest threat to American democracy in modern history.
“For every Goliath,” Green said, “there is a David.”
Whether this David’s slingshot lands remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: Al Green isn’t backing down—and he’s not alone.

Evidently stupidity is the premium in the black community of the DEMON RATS, whether it be in Congress or the Senate. HATE is also the main stay of the party. All these people are elected to their positions by people who lack education, common sense, and logic. Those electors are simply like sheep! They hear the loudest clamoring “windbag”, they follow. No thinking in the process. They have been brainwashed into the “slavery” thought, brow-beaten until they have no more personal thought. The elected leaders are all so corrupt with power over their constituents, it looks as if they are still in Africa, being sold to the Arabs to be sold to the English. There is no difference between today and a thousand years ago, where the Chief had life or death power over the tribe.
PITIFUL REALITY !
Amen brother and that bitch Crockett needs to be kicked out. She think she’s impervious to trouble when she’s running her pie hole.
His douchebag needs to be taken out of Congress. Worthless piece of slime.
AlbGreen is just another ID10Ts who needs to go sit back down and learn when his 2 cents is needed. He wastes the money his constituents pay him to represent him.
We need to kick Mr Green out ! He is just a loud mouth that just keeps sucking up tax payers money and doing nothing
Apoplectic, like all the other grifters!!
Hey Greeny, get a haircut and remove that beard. You look like something the dog dragged in. Shut your loser pie hole.
One would like to think that by acting like a fool you will get what you want. Well life and common sense don’t work that way. Every time he tries something he has failed and to think his party is for the people, they are not. Name calling from that party is old and tiresome and to believe it will work shows repeating the past that failed will always fail. Do I like Trump? In some ways yes and no but I vote for the best of those that are running no for myself but for America and only AMERICA. Green needs to retire and fade away. Green and a few others are out of touch with many people, and they believe they know what is best. Sorry to say he and the others have proven they should not be held accountable for what has happened for a decade. Last point. It takes time to fix major problems and some in power will never understand that they are the ones causing the problem.
