A quiet weekend on Vermont’s famed Sugarbush slopes turned chaotic. Vice President JD Vance, his wife Usha, and their three children arrived for a family ski trip. They were met by a throng of outraged protesters.
Chaos on the Slopes
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at the resort. They carried bold banners and fired off sharp slogans. One sign screamed, “Vance is a traitor – go ski in Russia!”
“Enough is enough!” a protester yelled.
Their chants filled the air. They waved pride flags and pro-Ukraine posters. The anger was palpable.
An Employee’s Fierce Stand
Sugarbush’s own staff joined the fray. Lucy Welch, the resort’s veteran snow reporter, broke tradition. Her morning update turned into a fiery condemnation.
“We are living in a really scary and really serious time,” she wrote.
“I’m calling out the Trump administration for its attack on our land and our future,” Welch added.
Her words cut deep. “I might lose my job,” she admitted, “but I won’t be silent while our democracy is threatened.”
Political Turmoil and Turbulent History
The protest comes on the heels of a heated Oval Office meeting. Vice President Vance clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Have you said ‘thank you’ once during this entire meeting?” Vance demanded.
This outburst has drawn harsh criticism. Critics label him Trump’s “attack dog.”
Vance’s political transformation shocks many. In 2016, he once dismissed Trump as an “idiot.” Now, he stands firmly with the MAGA camp—a shift that has rattled both American voters and European officials.
Republican Gov. Phil Scott had urged calm before Vance’s arrival. “We may not always agree, but we must be respectful,” he stated. Despite his call for civility, the local anger could not be contained.
A Nation at a Crossroads
This incident is more than a local disturbance. It mirrors America’s deep political divisions. Protesters see the Trump administration’s policies as a direct attack on democracy and the environment.
“We demand accountability and real change,” one demonstrator declared.
As Vance was escorted to a secure location, the message was clear: ordinary Americans are rising up. Their voices challenge the status quo, fighting for a future that respects nature, democracy, and shared values.

Respects democracy? Where have they been for the last four years??!! And as far as Russia/ukraine perhaps they should do a little research. While I feel bad for the ordinary people in both countries the only thing that keeps Zelenskyy from being every bit the dictator Putin is , is the fact that he doesn’t have the power to do so. He has nationalized the media, forced orthodox Christian’s to only attend the church he designated , jailed his political opponents and is now forcing “conscripted “ service in an unending war that he cannot win. These protesters, attacking a family including three small children, are pathetic attention seekers probably funded by left wing activist. They need to grow up.
Traitors need to be shot. And to do so with his family present. The ski lodge reporter and owner need to lose customers to show support for our government
They will get more public support, all the more power to them 👍🏼America is waking up! 👏🏻
