Senator Lisa Murkowski also expressed concern on X, stating, “Dozens – even over 100 – are being fired. This will stunt opportunities in our communities, hurt energy development, and damage our tourism economy.” President Trump himself noted in a White House briefing, “Elon can only act with our approval. He cannot, and will not, go beyond that.”

Legal challenges are mounting. Attorneys general from 14 states have filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., arguing that DOGE’s actions are illegal. They describe Musk as “an agent of chaos.” This legal battle may stall or reshape the initiative. There is deeper history behind these cuts.
