While Barron Trump’s lofty 6ft 7ins frame towers over dad Donald, he’s now exuding a “high status” stance to “avoid looking like” his father, according to a body language expert.
The 18-year-old dazzled at Mar-a-Lago after striking his best blue steel look to the camera as he dwarfed the former US president and influencer Bo Loudon – son of Women for Trump 2020 co-chair, Gina Loudon. Barron dressed up in a dashing navy suit with an electric blue tie as he looked sternly into the camera, framed by the ornate backdrop of the Palm Beach resort.
Despite his upcoming New York criminal trial on April 15 and a judge refusing his attempts to dismiss charges in an upcoming case on Thursday, the 77-year-old Republican showed no signs of being flustered as he and Bo gave a bright smile and a thumbs up to the camera.
Trump also sported a similar navy suit but opted for a Republican red tie while Bo styled a more casual chequered blue blazer, open-collared shirt and a grey pair of chinos.
Gone are the days of Barron looking feeble and shy next to his larger-than-life dad, who stands at 6ft 3ins, as he enters a new era of “power and self-perception”. Body language expert Judi James read between the lines and commented on the teen’s burgeoning confidence as he entered adulthood.
She exclusively told the Mirror: “Barron’s body language has now evolved into something fascinating in terms of power and self-perception. His previous signals of shyness or awkwardness appear to have vanished totally here. “He stands in the centre of one group like the high-status hub and when he poses alongside his father he makes no visual concession to Trump’s alpha status or presidential power pose.”
“Melania is often said to be promoting a more presidential look for her husband and that’s what Barron seems to have adopted with this more serious look. He stands with a foot splay that signals steady confidence and some suggestion of power, with his hands clasped in front of his torso. His gaze to camera looks steady and uncompromising and he apparently feels no pressure to smile or to showboat like his dad is doing.”
Barron has been blessed with good height genetics from both sides of the family tree with Trump standing at 6ft 3ins and mom Melania at 5ft 11ins – almost seven inches above the average woman in the US. However, Trump teasingly put Barron’s beanpole stature down to one thing: Melania’s mum Amalija Knavs’ cooking.
Judi argued that the 18-year-old has matured into his frame, adding: “Barron appears to have grown into his height and now looks comfortable in his own skin. More importantly though he shows no sign here of relating to or mirroring the people he is posing with, which takes him to what looks like a new level of positive self-awareness.”
It comes as US District Judge Aileen Cannon rejected Trump’s attempt to have the case accusing him of mishandling secret government files thrown out in Florida on Thursday. The former president Trump had argued that legislation authorised him to retain highly sensitive documents held at Mar-a-Lago after leaving office in 2021; prosecutors disagreed.
