A creep snuck up behind a New York City councilwoman and kissed her while she was doing a TV interview in Brooklyn Thursday, video shows.
Brooklyn councilwoman Inna Vernikov, a Republican who represents the 48th district, was doing an interview with CBS New York in Brighton Beach Thursday when she was interrupted, according to network reporter Hannah Kliger.
Before the reporter could finish asking her a question, a man in a cap suddenly swoops in on Vernikov’s left side and pecks her on the cheek, video shows.
The man turns back, smiles and laughs before he continues walking down the street.
“What the f—k?” the stunned councilwoman shouts.
“Not the kind of love I expect from constituents!” Vernikov tweeted on Friday after the incident. “Very creepy moment.”
Some city council members jumped across the aisle to Vernikov’s defense and slammed the man for his behavior.
“This disgusting behavior is unfortunately all too common in the day-to-day lives of women,” tweeted Bronx’s Marjorie Velazquez. “We can not let sexual assault become a normalized part of our public interactions.”
Queens Councilwoman Lynn Schulman called the unsolicited smooch “abhorrent and disgusting.”
“Sadly, this type of unacceptable behavior typically happens to women, even in 2023,” she tweeted.
“This isn’t funny in the slightest. It’s amazing how many creeps are walking the streets!” Queens councilman Robert Holden posted.
