Police Thwart ‘Mass Shooting’ at School (Video)

On Monday afternoon in Memphis, a disturbing occurrence apparently took place when a gunman allegedly fired shots outside a Jewish school, prompting a quick response from the police and raising alarm in the neighborhood.

A Memphis police officer discovered the suspect’s car on McCory Avenue a few miles away at about 1:30 CT. The officer fired their service weapon when the driver allegedly came out of the vehicle brandishing a gun. The officer’s bullet injured the suspect, who was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no police officers were hurt in this altercation.

The possibility for a mass shooting was successfully averted, according to Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis, who praised her officers for their quick and professional response. 911 calls informed the authorities that the shooter was outside the Margolin Hebrew Academy-Feinstone Yeshiva of the South. Security footage from the school showed the guy attempting to enter while waving what seemed to be a pistol.

The prompt action taken by school officials and law enforcement likely prevented a potentially devastating tragedy. According to information from a source briefed on the inquiry, the suspect, who apparently had attended the school, may have been aiming for a member of the congregation or an official of the institution.
