In a stunning and distressing occurrence, a mother from Miami-Dade County, Florida, was detained after attempting to hire a hitman to kill her own kid. She was charged with soliciting murder and criminal use of a communications equipment. Following her arrest, the woman went before a magistrate on Wednesday.
The woman accessed a mock hit-for-hire website meant to help law enforcement, according to a Miami-Dade police report, with the purpose of having her kid “taken away, far, far, far away and possibly be killed but ASAP.” She was prepared to pay $3,000 for the wrongdoing.
The mom reportedly cited the need to “get something done once and for all” as the justification for hiring a hitman to murder her own child, according to the story. Surprisingly, when contacting the website, she gave her son’s address, a recent photo, and her personal phone number.
Thankfully, the website’s administrator was watchful and careful. The operator notified Miami-Dade police after getting in touch with the woman. On Tuesday, detectives quickly located the woman using the IP address and phone number she had given them.
Further inquiry led officers to the boy’s grandmother, who disclosed that her daughter had left the boy in her care in May. According to the grandma, her daughter would frequently FaceTime the grandchild.
The grandmother told the investigators that she had taken a picture of her grandchild and that it had been published on the hitman website. She allegedly intended to have the child killed after sending the picture to her daughter.
At her father’s home, where she had been staying, the woman was taken into custody. Although the complete statement was censored in the information that was made public, the arrest report claimed that she confessed to her motives.
The Associated Press is withholding the woman’s name in order to preserve the child’s privacy. Judge Mindy Glazer placed the woman’s bond at $15,000 when she stood before her. She was let out of jail on Thursday, but the judge issued a severe warning not to get in touch with her kid, who is now staying with his grandmother.
The woman stated during her court appearance that she had never sought treatment for a mental health condition. The public defender’s office, which has been given the case, is defending her in court.
The neighborhood and beyond have been horrified by this really distressing situation. In order to ensure the child involved’s safety and wellbeing, authorities are still looking into the situation.
